How does a student venture simulation work when you host in a spatial learning environment? Well the Sophia High School #SETT recording can now be watched https://lnkd.in/eKUUDEBP We use these 3D environments because it allows our young people to feel confident, to be empowered and to connect and communicate through a medium they just ‘get’ Kids are spatially native learners. What’s so powerful here, is not just how passionate they are about their chosen social entrepreneurship project, but their story and journey of just how far they have come. We have EHCP learners, alternative provision learners, SEMH and School based Anxiety Learners, ADHD (I am included here), EAL, Medical Needs, ASD and I can go on with the beautiful range of neurodivergent needs But none of that matters Sophia High School because we see the beauty of each individual and celebrate that #inclusion #onlineeducation #students #education. The future of education needs to flex to support ALL children. So. Who would you vote for?

Unleash knowledge, unlock potential in neurodiverse minds🔓 Educationalist | Psychologist | Researcher | Project Manager | Teacher
This post reminds me of my experience during an ASD clinical attachment when a medical student asked the psychiatrist... "Are there any follow-ups for parents of children with ASD if it is discovered that they are also on the autism spectrum?" Regrettably, our medical system tends to be passive, often allocating limited resources to ASD parents unless there are evident impairments affecting their daily lives, given the pressures within the medical context in Hong Kong. It is inspiring to learn about the existence of support groups and conferences specifically aimed at ASD parents. This demonstrates to researchers in Hong Kong the potential and direction for improvement, encouraging us to be more proactive in providing ASD support services. We can indeed do more to support them. Do you have any knowledge or personal experience with services that support ASD adults? Feel free to share with me. :) #Austism #WorldAutismMonth #Neurodiversity

This week, I was honored to attend one of the most unexpectedly hope-filled evenings: the Center for Civic Innovation ATL's 2023 Fellowship Showcase. The hope was unexpected as the fellows this year were focused on reducing gun violence. Most fellows had loved ones directly impacted by gun violence. But hope rose in their community-based pursuit of safety and justice while pitching new, innovative proposals. Rohit Malhotra, CEO of CCI, framed the evening from the get go: "Violence is a failure of public policy. It is not an accident. It is a consequence. Here tonight is a reminder that we have hope, even when everything feels broken. That hope comes from community, from people, people who in spite of what the world tells them to be and in spite of challenges we put in their way, people who move forward with hope anyway." If they can have the courage and commitment to hope, the least that we can do is follow them, support them, and elevate their visions to a better future. One participant shared: "Pain that is not transformed will be transmitted." I would add that transformed pain is powerful. I highly recommend learning more about these great leaders and supporting their work.

I wrapped up 2023 with one exciting project that brought together stakeholders in academia, civil society and policy makers to address the issues that affect labor markets between the Global North and South. The two day event was the brainchild of Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom. Here's a snippet of what went on. #eventmanagement #projectmanagement #skillsgap

"The arts matter because they help us understand how we matter; they provide strong benefits to individuals and society, including creativity, innovation, imagination, problem solving, a sense of individual well-being, and a connectedness to the world and each other." Happy 50th GCVS! An interesting session today highlighting the importance of cross sector collaboration and how we can 'better cut the cake'. Advancing justice rather than applying sticking plasters, and the power of the pivot are concepts which truly resonate with me so it was great to hear how these are being applied elsewhere. Takeaways - new perspectives, new contacts and cake.
