Took my 16-year-old niece to a Washington Nationals vs New York Mets game recently (Go Nats)! Nothing quite like the ballpark experience—funnel cakes, hotdogs, and slushies! We discussed the valuable learnings from baseball that apply beyond the field. Here are the key takeaways we discussed: 1. **Patience is key:** Just like waiting for the right pitch, achieving goals often requires multiple attempts. The Nats' comeback from 5-1 down in the 5th inning to a 7-5 victory between the 6th and 8th innings is a testament to this—how you finish matters more than how you start. 2. **Have a Plan:** Whether a batter strategizing each at-bat or a pitcher adapting to a tough opponent, having a plan and adjusting as needed is crucial. This extends to the Game managers making timely substitutions and demonstrating situational leadership. 3. **Learn from Failure:** Embracing failure, making adjustments, and turning setbacks into successes is a fundamental part of the game. One pivotal moment can change the outcome which is why the importance of continuous improvement and resilience are key. Despite my niece's waning interest in my baseball wisdom, we enjoyed the game and the treats. Which is hilarious as it was announced recently that Fisher and Kaval would like to play 10 percent of the home games away from Vegas. #RichardMonfort and #CharlesMonfort have not done much to try to even have a #competitive roster as owners of the #ColoradoRockies #JerryReinsdorf owner of the #ChicagoWhiteSox, there is some talent on that roster but it has underperformed prior to the 2024 season and currently his team has the worst record in MLB. #CharlesJohnson and #GregJohnson #SanFranciscoGiants owners, doing everything in their power to not help the #Athletics stay in #Oakland and even helped Kaval with the Sacramento deal. #BruceSherman #MiamiMarlins the franchise is a mess especially after letting #KimNg go. #InflatedAttendance numbers, I've watched numerous games this year, even at the start of the season there have been plenty of empty seats when the camera shows the crowds. #BadUmpires one retired recently in #AngelHernandez there are still a number of them that need to do the same.

Astronomical deal!!!  All MLB records before 1969 need asterisks. In 1969, MLB expanded the post-season into a tournament. While team expansion west & north and integration began before 1969, the skill level improved because of playoff expansion. Teams needed better players. Ohtani is a history-maker.  #ShoheiOhtani is the best baseball player in history so far. Babe Ruth is overrated. Every MLB record & statistic before 1969 needs an asterisk. In 1969, MLB expanded the post-season into a real playoff tournament. Since then, the caliber of players exponentially improved.

I can predict who will win the NBA Finals with just one stat. Here's how ⬇️ You see, in 2008 Laker’s coach Phil Jackson presented a theory: “You must win 40 games before you lose 20 to be seen as an elite team.” This may sound like an odd number but of the last 30 NBA Champions, only 3 teams haven't fallen into the "40-20" category: ∙ '04 Pistons (33-20) ∙ '06 Heat (30-20) ∙ '21 Bucks (32-20) But what about this year? In 2024 we have four teams that satisfy the "40-20" Rule: ∙ Celtics ∙ Nuggets ∙ Timberwolves ∙ Thunder But who has the best chance of winning the whole thing? Since the Celtics are the only team in the East that satisfies this rule, we’ll send them straight to the Finals. In the West, it's a toss-up between the Thunder and the Wolves. Each only had 17 losses when they got their 40th wins. (The Nuggets had 19 losses when they reached 40 wins). But give me the Timberwolves to win the West.
