We are proud to announce the 2024 Neil Armstrong Award of Excellence recipient is 1998 Astronaut Scholar Alum, Dr. Adam Weber! Dr. Weber graduated summa cum laude from Tufts University in 1999 with a bachelor’s and master's in chemical engineering. He earned his doctorate in chemical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 2004. Currently, he is the CTO of CA DOE Hydrogen Hub, co-director of the Million Mile Fuel Cell Truck and director of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Earthshot Research Center. Additionally, he serves as a senior scientist and group leader at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. On this day in 1982, the STS-4 crew, Ken Mattingly and Hank Hartsfield launched from NASA's Kennedy Space Center for the fourth and final test flight of Space Shuttle Columbia. They landed back on Earth on July 4, receiving a presidential welcome; the Space Shuttle was officially declared operational.
