Asprey is proud to introduce the Hikihaku collection, paying homage to the meticulous hikihaku weaving technique, an age-old Japanese tradition used for adorning kimonos and obi belts across generations. The process behind hikihaku involves entwining precious 'haku' metal foil – gold, silver, and platinum – with classic silk threads, yielding a symphony of textures. Asprey's creation, the Hikihaku clutch, harmonises platinum foil, Mother of Pearl, and crushed Lapis Lazuli threads, conjuring the essence of an English rose. The project was created in collaboration with Kondaya Genbei, traditional obi makers since 1738, now led by the 10th generation head of the family, Genbei Yamaguchi. Each piece within the Hikihaku collection is a tribute to the artisans' mastery of time-honoured crafting techniques, yielding a remarkably scarce selection of unique handbags of exceptional beauty.
