We were delighted to deliver a workshop for Texthelp on how we can create effective Employee Resource Groups. Here are just a few of the points we shared: Effective employee resource groups are key to inclusion in the workplace, but they need to function in a way that works for the organisation and the individuals that take part. Does anyone else identify with this? #relatable No one is better positioned to understand people and their impact on a business than HR, and most HR pros I know have a 'spidey sense' when interpersonal dynamics are heading south in a way that can damage the business. As much as I wish everyone inherently valued HR's perspective, it's often on us to influence, convince, and bring our colleagues along with us. In a high-performing business every leader has their own agenda - understanding their motivations and bringing them along for the ride can be a fun and rewarding challenge! I'd much prefer a "we got it right" than a "told you so" - wouldn't you? #teamwork #leadership #empowerment #hr

I started having conversations about DEI in the Caribbean back in 2020. My dialogue at the time was about shifting the mindset that DEI is more than race and sexual orientation, and it impacts every aspect of the employee experience journey in your organization. This week, I had the pleasure of presenting to some HR teams across the Ministry of Public Service through the Learning and Development Directorate's HR forum. I challenged the audience to consider answering these three questions as they look at talent across the various ministries they serve: 1️⃣ Who is missing from the room? 2️⃣ Are we treating everyone fairly? 3️⃣ Does everyone feel welcome? Despite living on an island where Afro-Caribbean is the majority, this conversation on DEI is still very important. What are your thoughts on DEI conversations in the Caribbean?
