It takes Vision, Wisdom, and will, not just Time, to solve the problems that will see us achieve OUR developmental goals.
Except the unexpected happens, 2029 will mark 30 consecutive years of democratic rule in Nigeria, and apart from the the deregulation of the telecommunications sector and the Paris club debt forgiveness, nothing remarkable has been achieved and no real problem(s) we had, as a nation, before then has been solved.
Although our great entrepreneurial spirit has seen us make some impressive strides in the private sector, the same cannot be said about the public sector. A lot has been said on the topic of leadership, but not enough has been said on the most important component of it - PROBLEM SOLVING.
With the many fancy alphabets in front of the names of the people in leadership positions and the number of fancy certificates and degrees from local and foreign universities and institutions, our problems are bigger than ever, suggesting that degrees do not guarantee that problems can be understood and solved.
In the six years that we have before 2029, let us remember that all the problems we had in education, healthcare, criminal justice, etc as at 1999 still exist and the situation has further deteriorated, as we can all see in the Quality Of Life (#QoL)of citizens.
We must state our #interests, develop the unique #capabilities to deliver them to our people consistently, take into consideration the #obstacles that stand in our way and decisively eliminate them.
Our leaders must SOLVE our problems, not just talk about them.
