Today #TeamArvinas honors and reflects on #Juneteenth, and the significant contributions Black Americans have made in the U.S. One of Arvinas’ leadership guiding principles is to “Encourage a Culture of Belonging and Purpose.” This is important to our success because it ensures unique voices and perspectives are heard and considered in decision-making processes. By celebrating diversity and honoring this historical day, we hope to inspire confidence in all individuals to be able to show up fully and authentically at work. #FreedomDay #Diversity #Inclusion #CompanyCulture

As we continue to celebrate Black History Month, we asked Akima Paul Lambert and Charissa Veldman to share their wisdom for ambitious black women navigating the corporate landscape. Here are some transformative takeaways: 1️⃣ Be Resilient & Strong: The journey might be filled with challenges, but resilience can become our superpower. 2️⃣ Embrace Vulnerability: While there's often a feeling of needing to be the fixer, or the one with all the answers, it's crucial to remember that we don't always have to be strong. Vulnerability and strength are not opposites – they can coexist within us. 3️⃣ Seek Help Openly: In a world with unspoken pressure to constantly prove ourselves, asking for help isn't a sign of weakness. It's an integral part of our personal and professional growth. Which one resonated with you the most? This Black History Month, we're Celebrating our Sisters, and we want to celebrate someone whom we wouldn't have considered if it was for their documentary....Race, Pop & Power. Leigh-Anne Pinnock we salute you! 🤛🏿🫷🏾 We appreciate the candid way Leigh-Anne approached doing this documentary, highlighting racial gaslighting. And what we loved most was her willingness to get really uncomfortable and discuss issues that may not be understood on a wider scale, like colourism. Even having a difficult talk with her partner about his demonstrated colourism discrimination and questioning whether her mixed heritage disqualified her from being a person to take on this issue. 🤯 For those who are unaware, colourism is largely a by-product of slavery and colonialism. Where those who are lighter are favoured over those who are darker, this is found in most ethnic groups and is very prevalent in the Caribbean. We admire Leigh-Anne's bravery and desire to use her platform to make a difference. We encourage you to watch the documentary if you haven't. The more we learn, the more emotionally intelligent we become while building bridges to end all forms of discrimination. What will you watch this week as part of Black History Month? We'd love to know so please share in the comments 👇🏾⬇️👇🏾 👋🏾👏🏼 We're The Like Me CIC - a Leadership Development and Empowerment Training company for organisations committed to developing women to lead. This February, as we commemorate Black History Month, we celebrate the rich tapestry of contributions made by black individuals throughout history. It's a time to honor their resilience, innovation, and profound impact on shaping our world. But our commitment to diversity and inclusion extends far beyond a single month. It's a year-round journey that requires active engagement and unwavering dedication. I firmly believe that diversity is not just a moral imperative, but a strategic advantage. Now more than ever, we must reaffirm our commitment to fostering inclusive workplaces where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to bring their authentic selves to the table. It's not enough to pay lip service to diversity; we must take tangible actions to effect real change. I pledge to play my part by: 🤝 Promoting equitable opportunities for all. 🎓 Investing my time and energy in education and development programs that empower underrepresented groups. 👥 Creating a culture of belonging where diverse perspectives are not only welcomed but actively sought out. 🌱 Cultivating mentorship and sponsorship initiatives to support the next generation of diverse leaders. Together, let's turn words into action and build a future where diversity is not just celebrated, but embraced as the cornerstone of our success. Join me in this journey towards a more inclusive tomorrow. #BlackHistoryMonth #DiversityandInclusion #InclusiveLeadership #Empowerment #Equality #ChangeMakers

Developing a comprehensive approach to diversity and inclusivity is of the utmost importance. It surpasses mere enthusiasm and necessitates active participation from individuals who have firsthand experiences. Lived experience perspectives are invaluable in shaping genuine and enduring transformation. Leaders and managers accountable for diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives must actively engage in meaningful endeavors to drive progress. Let's collaborate to foster and integrate genuine diversity and inclusion within our organisations. Black history month is now over, what have we learned and how are we going to work with groups now to inform better practice? This is much more than the showcasing of 'Blackness' for one month of the year. This is about enabling marginalised groups to have productive careers, free from the torment of racism. https://buff.ly/45QeiZy #DiversityandInclusion #RacialEquity #Leadership

Celebrating Alain LeRoy Locke - The Architect of the Harlem Renaissance On this beautiful first Monday of Black History Month, I am shining a spotlight on Alain LeRoy Locke, the philosophical architect of the Harlem Renaissance and a beacon of cultural leadership. As professionals in the event industry, we find inspiration in Locke's vision of amplifying diverse voices, creating environments where art, concepts, and unity thrive. His legacy teaches us the influence of community and imagination in transforming events into memorable experiences that resonate with people from different generations and cultures. 🔹Locke's efforts in promoting African American artists and intellectuals laid the groundwork for a cultural revolution that went beyond boundaries, shaping the global conversation on inclusivity and multiculturalism. 🔹 Let's embrace the pioneering spirit of Locke as we organize and carry out events worldwide. Our goal is to create platforms that embrace diversity, amplify the voices of underrepresented individuals, and cultivate a sense of belonging and connection. #blackhistorymonth #leadership #diversity #inclusion #culture #diversityinevents #alainleroylocke #harlemrenaissance

High Performance Coach | Transforming professionals through tailored growth strategies, coaching, and actionable plans to achieve their goals
What The Numbers Say About DEI We can point to the rise of several prominent black leaders, from media figures like Oprah Winfrey,Robert Johnson, and Jay-Z to financiers Ken Chenault and Robert Smith and sports stars turned business people Serena Williams,Michael Jordan, and LeBron James. The number of African Americans earning bachelor's and graduate degrees continues to increase. And black people account for 12% of the U.S. workforce, close to their 13.4% representation in the general population. However in the words of leaders from the Toigo Foundation,a career advancement organization for underrepresented groups, such evidence merely gives us "the illusion of inclusion." Black leaders have struggled to make inroads in a variety of influential industries and sectors. #diversity #equity #inclusion #racialjustice

Did you know that February 1st marks the start of Black History Month? Here's what we believe: At the McGuckin Group we believe that a pivotal element in long term organizational success is fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace. Black History Month should remind us that diversity drives global impact! Companies with diverse leadership are 45% more likely to improve market share AND YET only 3.2% of Fortune 500 CEOs are African American. This statistic is not ideal and the bottom line is: Representation matters. Therefor as we celebrate the contributions of African American's this month and beyond, let's also acknowledge the need for more diverse leadership and work towards creating equal opportunities for all people. #blackhistorymonth #success #leadership #representation #diversity
