Arsh Nandan Prasad’s Post

When you give your best in the interviews but are not selected for the mere fact that you are going through a rough patch in life certainly shows how generous these companies are 😂. As the recruiters come to know that I'm fighting Cancer, I see the change in their expressions. I don't need your sympathy!! I'm here to prove myself. -Just a recent pic of me giving an interview during my Chemotherapy sessions.

This is so inspiring! Godspeed! Hey Randy Kanapi he's using a Lenovo!

when the time is good for you Arsh I would love to speak with you. I like your versatile hands on & sales/marketing angle shown in your profile. And admire your grit and attitude. I would love to explore if you could be someone who could sell/showcase our SaaS offering in your market. We are not a big large brand, we are a 3-people company based in Europe (CuvéeBits s.r.o. ) Now take a good care of yourself and let me know when would be the good time to speak!

Stick at it mate. In 2015, I had a canula removed from my arm to turn up to an interview where everyone believed it was a case of appendicitis. I did get the job.. but it transpired almost as soon as the paperwork was signed that it was a rare strain of cancer that had exploded and taken my appendix with it (45 min operation to remove an appendix normally took 6.5 hours). The only questions I was asked by staff at giffgaff and NTT DATA UK (my placement through NTT was giffgaff) was how I could be supported. The efforts made to support me over the next 12 months (which included 6 months of chemo) were amazing. I stayed with them for a little over 4 years. My point is, there are companies out there that will support you and not pity you 🙂 Good luck in your quest mate, and sincerely hope you have a good recovery.. might get tough at times, but certainly worth the effort to come out the other side 💪

Hey Arsh, Having had cancer twice myself, I get your situation. The way I handled it was I would avoid the cancer word if/when possible, just say I have a health issue that I’m dealing with but, that I am able to work 100%. The moment cancer is mentioned, yup, they treat you differently. After I was finished with my treatment and people would say “oh, you’re a survivor”, I would tell them “No, I’m not a victim, I had cancer, now I don’t”. The key is to not let them know your sick even though you’re going through the Hell that is chemo. It doesn’t sound right and I’ll be criticized but, unless a person has gone through it, they won’t ever understand. Good luck brother, stay strong, make sure to eat, keep faith and drink lots of liquid with electrolytes.

True, I have experienced the same after working for approx 4+ Years with them I had severe Back Pain due to which I could not sit stand or walk for a long stretch, it's with India's no. 1 Private Bank. They started their separating special process, kept me as a pool staff after 2-3 months I got bed ridden my cluster head asked me to put papers on email no ratings no appraisal and even I could not able to get my last CTC or Salary Slips. I am still suffering through the more worsen health issues as I am still searching for a suitable role in a good company with group Health insurance to take care of my medical part as well. But now my hope is getting down gradually as time is flying day by day and my job gap is also increasing accordingly. Kindly like, comment & share so my profile may reach to my next employer or to the opportunity provider and I may get an opportunity with a ray of hope for survival.

let me add another company to the list - Mivi and Pad integrated. They are like this too. No one cares about the person. they just want the work done. You are just a means to the end. Mivi went a step further and added a 2-year bond because the previous employee died on the job with cancer lol and said they won't pay me because I was in the hospital and wasn't in the office (for 2 days).

You are already a winner when you don't give in to such rugged terrains of your life! A warrior can never be defeated but a fighter may still be....You are a warrior...! All need to learn from you how we need to keep up our spirit! A metaphor....'How the Wall of China when seen from and aeroplane looks like a line and when looked from the land standing beside it looks gigantic....undefeatable....! You have raised your life state so high ...that no words can explain! Hats off! You were not worthy of contributing value to those who hesitated because of your situation. The universe is bound to give you back your deserved path of earning in a much larger way as you persevered through the difficult situation bravely without begruding! You will heal much faster ....and you will definitely share your success stories soon! Do update that time with reference to today's situation! People don't relate often when one goes through dips in life but associate when kne emerges winner after defeating biggest challenges! Bravo ! You are one to shine and keep an eye on!

The problem with industry is that no one wishes anyone to ever fall sick. This wishful thinking and over positive approach compels them to avoid anyone with health problems. Passing a medical test for a company seems more complicated then cracking an interview. A while back I was just interacting with an appraiser and he mentioned that over 65... stress test making someone run / jog... just to prove he or she is healthy... Work is all about enjoying it... whatsoever time available... do it with best of satisfaction. Am soon initiating an accelerator program for Thalassemia patients and motivating them to create a startup spinoff... Obviously the accelerator will be driven by a Thalassemia person only... (imagine right from childhood kid's depend on blood transfusion every fortnight) So all need to continue working.. giving their best. and let's see how we try to solve this painpoint too.
