There is still time to have your say. “Create a town that people are proud to live in and excited to visit” We’re on a fact-finding mission and we need your help to understand what you as a resident, business or visitor to Bedford or Kempston think we need to make our towns places people are proud to live in and excited to visit. Here are some pointers to help with your thoughts and ideas: Why do you come to our town centres? How can we brighten up our town centres? How can Bedford and Kempston become more family-focused? Should we make more of the history of the areas? How would you improve the entrances to our town centres? Please get your thoughts to us by Wednesday 31 January, details of how to submit your ideas can be found at https://lnkd.in/esGeThaR We know we've lots of people on here who are really passionate about what they believe town centres should be, with some really exciting ideas. We always enjoy reading your comments and will answer where we can, but please remember if you're adding your thoughts in the comments below you will also need to submit your ideas by email or in writing for them to be considered by the team. #bedford #kempston

The second theme from our Strategic Plan we are exploring is our Streets and Trails. While the goals differ from our first theme, Our Public Space, the two themes have a close relationship. Consider them siblings. Same family but different personalities. For instance, in our public space theme our goal is to “consider Main Street less as a thoroughfare and more as an active public space.” Whereas in this theme our goal is to “calm intersections and prioritize pedestrians along key streets and Main Street in particular.” The two work hand in hand, put with our public spaces theme the driver is activity and with our streets and trails theme our driver is safety. (Missed opportunity for a ‘driver’ pun there?) Both goals are necessary however. Continue reading here: https://lnkd.in/gN6HRS3x

Our suggested route change to High Speed 1 (HS1) in the UK left a lasting legacy that extended beyond a high-speed railway; it resulted in transformational city planning, urban renewal and economic growth. From catalysing the multi-billion-pound regeneration of King’s Cross Central to providing a much-needed high quality commuter service, HS1 changed how we think about the role of rail infrastructure. It was a crucial part of London’s bid to host the 2012 Olympics, was a catalyst for the regeneration of Stratford in East London and Ebbsfleet in north Kent, and in its first decade of operation over 47,000 families, couples and singles looking to buy or rent affordable homes chose to relocate to the HS1 catchment area. Richard de Cani, our Global Cities, Planning and Design Lead, shares the lessons we learned. Read here: https://bit.ly/4bt7ljU #HS1 #HighSpeedRail #UrbanRegeneration

The Fishermans Bend Business Forum wholeheartedly endorses efforts that will unlock the full potential of our community. City of Port Phillip Council is steadfastly working toward a brighter future for Fishermans Bend, and their recent media release resonates strongly with us. The Fishermans Bend Framework 2018 stands as a testament to our shared vision. It emphasises the importance of delivering effective transportation solutions, significant open spaces, and essential infrastructure to meet the needs of our current and future community. This masterplan resulted from years of collaboration between the Council, the Victorian Government, our community, developers, and other stakeholders. Unfortunately, some key elements of this plan, such as essential infrastructure like Light Rail, Metro Rail, have not materialised as initially agreed. We firmly believe that well-planned and efficient transport systems are pivotal in ensuring Fishermans Bend evolves into a world-class environment for living, working, and recreation. We share the frustrations of our community and continue to be committed to this cause. Discover action you can take to ensure the best outcomes for our community > https://lnkd.in/g8ypUMZf #FishermansBend #FishermansBendBusinessForum #Infrastructure #UrbanPlanning #UrbanRenewal #Transportation #TransportationInfrastructure #Melbourne #MelbourneBusiness #MelbourneNews #Community Bernadene Voss GAICD Guy Naselli Linda Norman Mary Barry David Hamilton

Specializing in Commercial Real Estate Financing | Helping Businesses up to $50M in Annual Revenue and Investors with CRE Deals | Let's Build Your Future
Unlike San Francisco, San Jose is a car-first city. However, with a robust, electrified train system, our growing city will benefit in several ways: 1. Quality of life: Saves us time when we travel because nobody loves sitting in traffic. 2. Reduced energy consumption: Trains and other forms of public transit are typically more energy-efficient per passenger mile than private vehicles. This reduces the overall energy consumption of a city and helps mitigate the strain on energy resources. 3. Land use efficiency: Instead of allocating vast areas for parking lots and highways, cities can use the land more effectively for housing, green spaces, and commercial development. This helps cities accommodate their growing populations without excessive urban sprawl. Why bring this up? Because Mayor Matt Mahan talked about some of these things during our CCIM--Northern California Chapter event last week! It was an honor hosting the Mayor, Johnny Khamis, and all our guests that attended our Luncheon. #CCIM #SiliconValley #DevelopmentDrivenDuties #TransitTrailblazer #MetroMobilizingMayor Joseph Cervantes | Chad Huston | Michael Luong | 🔸Helen HL Chong, CCIM, CIPS | Catherine House, CRE, FRICS, CCIM | Eric Rehn, CCIM | Tony Rishell, CCIM, CPM | Terry Shores | Tim Tikalsky, CPA, CCIM | Tim Vi Tran, SIOR, CCIM, Commercial Real Estate Advisor | Matt Mahan | Johnny Khamis | Mackenzie Mossing Here's what he had to say...

The Importance of Governing Place ++ "the blunt calculation by public officials that if they can’t make their downtowns and neighborhoods appealing, they can’t compete for residents or businesses — all of these hinge on the deceptively simple challenge of creating places, especially within cities, that people intuitively like." -- Governing Magazine Need an appealing place?
