❗Sexual interest towards children and young people vary across language groups: 💡20% of #English-speaking #CSAM #offenders reported feeling sexual interest toward postpubescent adolescents aged 15-17, and 18% toward pubescent children aged 11-14. 💡34% of #Russian-speaking CSAM offenders reported feeling no sexual interest toward individuals under the age of 18, that is, children and young people. #Portuguese-speaking and #Spanish-speaking CSAM offenders preferred not to disclose their preferences. The National Children’s Commissioner has today released the report “Do Things With The Information We Tell You,” documenting Phase 1 of the three year project Supporting Quality Engagement with children. Children and young people said they want to see action based on what they told us of their lived experience. It’s not enough to just listen to children, we need to take seriously what they are telling us about the systems that are failing to meet their needs. The report details the findings from Australia-wide consultations with 232 children and young people from a variety of backgrounds including First Nations, culturally and linguistically diverse, living with disability, and those with lived experiences of child sexual abuse.  During consultations, children and young people identified numerous gaps in service provision and clearly articulated their ideal solutions for improving supports and services for themselves and their families. AOAF sensitizing students on Sexual Abuse Prevention Education is an important step in empowering adolescents and young people to make informed decisions.
