See information below to engage in rich conversation... #organizationdesign #organizationdevelopment
Join me August 15 at 11am ET for the Organization Design Forum "Coffee to Cocktails" (it depends on your time zone) Club! This is an informal gathering I host monthly where practitioners new and experienced can come together to discuss what I hope are interesting topics in organization design. This month we will explore both the what and the how of organization design in the nonprofit sector. We will seek to understand what makes a nonprofit operating model unique and how we practice our craft differently when working with nonprofit organizations, as opposed to corporate or government entities. No experience working with nonprofits is necessary to engage in this rich conversation. Sign up below!

My book, Chasing Success: The Challenge for Nonprofits is important for several different audiences working in the nonprofit field---executives, students, community and business leaders, policy makers and funders. The book is not written as a single read but rather as an ongoing reference guide for anyone being called upon to make decisions either for or about a nonprofit with sets of questions that you should be asking yourself and/or the nonprofit. This kind of guidance is especially important for board members who may be serving on a board in a field unfamiliar to them and/or are new to the board process. Ensuring that the nonprofit is accountable and fiscally sound are two essential responsibilities of the nonprofit board; having a focused way to guide discussion through relevant questions helps the board member be more valuable to the organization and helps the organization construct its work so that resources may be used more effectively.

The Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Nonprofit Roundtable meets every other month and brings together nonprofit staff from across the area to collaborate, share resources, facilitate referrals, and identify/resolve service gaps. We would love to have any and all nonprofits in the area participate! Of particular interest, at Tuesday’s upcoming meeting, we will have a representative from the Unite Us platform demonstrating this amazing online resource to connect organizations and facilitate client referrals. It’s a groundbreaking concept, supported locally by Marshall Health Network, making it free for organizations to utilize. The idea is to connect organizations electronically so they can easily connect clients to whatever resources they need through the click of a button, a seamless handoff/handshake from one organization to another to ensure the clients receive the comprehensive services they need to ensure their overall well-being. We’re stronger together! All nonprofits are welcome and encouraged to participate in Nonprofit Roundtable. The more the merrier. Anyone who would benefit from using the Unite Us platform should join us on Tuesday morning: educators, medical providers, judicial staff, social service agencies, senior services, you name it. If you work with or support people in our community who need access to other resources, please join us. Here’s the registration link for Tuesday’s free Nonprofit Roundtable meeting: https://lnkd.in/eaKBhNKP Please reach out with any questions.

When we talk about nonprofit governance, bylaws serve as the guiding principles that govern how organizations operate. They outline the rules and procedures for decision-making, define the roles and responsibilities of board members, and establish the framework for organizational structure. However, as nonprofit landscapes evolve and organizations grow, it becomes crucial to regularly review and update these bylaws to ensure they remain relevant and effective. In this blog post, we'll explore the importance of regular bylaws review for nonprofits and provide guidance on what to consider when drafting or revising nonprofit bylaws. https://lnkd.in/g8r3AmFi
