There’s no such thing as a perfect team in sports or in business. As a leader, it’s my job to be transparent about this fact and help my team play to our strengths, not our weaknesses. All businesses have inevitable weak points. As a startup, for instance, we’ll never have the brand budget of large corporations. But small companies also have strengths that huge brands don’t. We’re nimble, scrappy, and innovative. We can get folks excited about our vision at a grassroots level. We can change our game plan if we need to. Those are all enormous assets. Don’t strive to be perfect; strive to capitalize on your strengths.
