OPEC’s Monthly Oil Market Report (MOMR) for June expected demand to reach 2.3 million b/d in the second half of 2024 but it expected world oil demand for the whole of 2024 to remain unchanged as its forcast for the prevous 4 months at 2.2 million b/d. For demand in 2025 it kept its forcast unchanged from the last month at 1.8 million b/d. The OPEC’s MOMR forcast that oil supply outside OPEC+ will grow at 1.2 million b/d in 2024 unchanged from the previous two month. It has also forcast that the supply outside OPEC+ in 2025 will be at 1.1 in 2025 unchanged from previous two months.

OPEC sees call on its oil surging through end-2023 as it makes aggressive cuts. OPEC continues to forecast demand for its oil growing significantly up to the end of 2023, albeit at a slightly lesser rate than it previously expected, in a sign it expects a significant tightening of the market in coming months. Opec reckons global oil demand in 2024 will grow by 2.25 million barrels per day, roughly double the consensus of other forecasters.
