Controversy or Opportunity? ED&I Strategies to Help Your Company Thrive Despite ED&I sparking debate in the U.S., its GLOBAL importance is undisputed. We live in a diverse world where companies must cater to a broad spectrum of cultures and communities. Below are innovative strategies to advance ED&I in today's complex environment: 1. Reverse Mentoring: This initiative pairs younger or less experienced employees from diverse backgrounds with senior leaders, facilitating a two-way exchange of perspectives. It empowers junior employees and provides fresh insights to the leadership, promoting a culture of mutual learning and respect. 2. Diversity Hackathons: By organizing hackathons focused on tackling ED&I challenges, companies can harness the collective problem-solving capabilities of diverse teams, showcasing the value of varied perspectives in innovation. 3. Inclusion Labs: Creating experimental spaces where employees can test new ED&I policies or training programs allows for real-time feedback and iterative improvement, ensuring initiatives are both effective and well-received. 4. Cultural Exchange Programs: These programs encourage employees to experience working in different locations, especially international offices, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of global cultural diversity. 5. ED&I Innovation Fund: A dedicated fund to support employee-led ED&I projects empowers individuals to contribute creative solutions to ED&I challenges, promoting a culture of ownership and innovation. 6. Day in the Life Simulations: Developing simulations that allow employees to experience the daily realities of colleagues from different backgrounds builds empathy and understanding, critical components of an inclusive workplace. 7. Unconscious Bias Hack: Leveraging technology to track and provide feedback on unconscious biases can help individuals become more aware of and actively counteract their biases. In a world where diversity is not just a fact but a strength, adopting out-of-the-box strategies for ED&I not only enriches our workplaces but also prepares us to thrive in the global market. By acknowledging the controversies yet pressing forward with innovative solutions, we can ensure that ED&I remains a pivotal element of our corporate cultures, driving positive change and fostering inclusivity at every level. #DiversityAndInclusion #EquityDiversityAndInclusion #GlobalWorkforce #CulturalIntelligence #InclusiveLeadership #ZellaLife

TLDR: our practical guide on How to Amplify Colleague Voices is out in the wild! (Link in the comments) 💡 How can team members trust us with their ideas, energy and best work if we don’t listen to them and make good space for their voices? With hybrid, we have to put intention and structure around our listening, not just hope that it happens organically. ⚡ And here’s where our Market Research Society (MRS) guide comes in: we’ve got practical advice on 4 specific formats to try or adapt for your team. From Inclusive Meetings to Colleague Surveys/Pulses, to creating a Consultative Panel or running an Innovation Group. 🤓 As part of the MRS workstream on Leadership and Culture (to fight the good fight on talent acquisition and retention), Sophie Holland and I have been developing this this year and would love you to have a gander and let us know other strategies you’re using. 😎 The icing on our wee Christmas cake is a sparkling set of case studies from industry gurus Daniel Rose James Endersby Danny Sims Jo Parker. Thank yous also go to the wider Leadership and Culture team and Sue Klinck (Link) for input and insight. 😋 Ultimately, we want to inspire you to be a listening glutton. To feast on feedback. Be hungry for colleague insights, observations and reflections. And to keep listening. Photo from our FIREFISH Fireflung away day where we learned to sing together and listen better to each other. Idiosyncratic dance moves and finger clicking notwithstanding. #mrx #teamculture #listening #colleaguevoices #workculture

Enhancing Client Care through Diverse Perspectives in Multidisciplinary Teams In professional settings where multidisciplinary teams collaborate to support participants, prioritising the well-being of the client is essential for delivering effective assistance in navigating complex systems and life challenges. Embracing diverse viewpoints within care teams not only enrich the collective knowledge and experience of all team members but also provides teams with a broader perspective to tackle challenges effectively. Acknowledging and valuing diverse viewpoints within care teams is fundamental for cultivating a culture of learning and growth. Each team member contributes unique insights and experiences, which, when integrated, enhance the team's overall understanding. Dismissing these perspectives not only limits learning opportunities but also hampers the team's ability to approach participant challenges and systemic barriers comprehensively. By embracing diverse viewpoints, teams can maximise learning and growth opportunities for both themselves and the participants they support. Encouraging open dialogue, active listening, and respectful exchange of ideas enables teams to leverage the full spectrum of expertise within their ranks, will ultimately lead to more informed and effective interventions. #complex #diversityandinclusion #collaboration #communication #personcentred #makingthecomplexclear

Living at the Intersection of Business, Technology & Human Experience | Workplace Transformation | Devoted Husband and Father of 7
Vyond and TalentLMS just released a report on what employees want from L&D, which had many interesting findings. One that stood out was the double-digit growth in employees pursuing skill development outside what is offered by their employer. On the surface, this could easily be interpreted as an indication companies and L&D functions aren't offering enough of what people need. While there may be some actionable truth in that, I'd encourage leaders not to immediately jump to the conclusion they need to create and offer employees more "stuff." This is especially true when combining that finding with another finding in the report highlighting 80% of employees are satisfied with what their companies already have to offer. The reality is, the personalized need of each individual and the speed at which skills are evolving means it will be impossible for us to keep pace and people will need to independently augment their development. We'd be wise not to waste time competing for market share of where people are learning. Instead, we should focus on how to help them navigate their skill development, wherever the learning comes from. We can do this by creating more opportunities for people to measure and apply their skills, get feedback, and collaborate with their colleagues where the skills intersect their work.
