Dutch architecture practice Studio RAP has innovated a digital fabrication process for creating 3D-printed ceramic tiles, blending advanced robotics and computational design. In their “New Delft Blue” project, they adorned two monumental archways in Delft’s PoortMeesters housing development with 3,000 unique tiles inspired by traditional Delft Blue porcelain. These four-meter-wide, eight-meter-high, and twelve-meter-deep archways, designed by VY Architects and completed in 2022, lead to a communal courtyard. The tiles, featuring intricate leaf-like patterns and vibrant blue tones, merge Delft’s historical aesthetics with modern technology, contrasting beautifully with the building’s brickwork and complementing the nearby canals. 📸: Riccardo De Vecchi #architecture #design #architect #building #netherlands #material #creative #technology #photography

Nice one ! It's remind me a stained glass creation France Vitrail International installed in the Arab League Conference Center in Egypt years ago. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/france-vitrail-international_plafond-en-vitrail-10m-long-enti%C3%A8rement-activity-6296268584645586944-eGtU?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop
This is incredible!
The elements used are reminding me of bomb stells?
These tiles are a game-changer in architecture and design.
It's incredible to have the freedom to create unparalleled designs with 3D ceramic printing. Amazing design...
