Rouen, in northern France, is known for its beautiful architecture. The Rouen Cathedral is a highlight with its Gothic design. The Gros-Horloge, a big clock, shows Renaissance style. Many old half-timbered houses add to the city's charm. The Church of Saint-Maclou and the Church of Saint-Ouen are other great examples of Gothic architecture. Rouen's mix of styles makes it a fascinating place to visit. 📸: Steven van der Hulst

🧠Yes, Dan Flavin is famous for his fluorescent-light art, but for me the wow moment was seeing everything white turning into pink while standing in the green room.
🟢This exhibition features two galleries: one gallery has a series of six vertically oriented works in cool white light, and the opposite gallery has six diagonal works in green light.
😅 Of course, pink is a complimentary color of green! But for the first 5 minutes I was exiting the green room & going to white room to check if light is changing to pink, but no this was a brain trick!

Here is Part 2 of my trip to Cologne, Germany 🥨
Let me tell you a little about the Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom) 😍
It stands 157m tall, making it the world’s third-largest Gothic-style cathedral. With an impressive 10,000 square meters of windows, it attracts around 20,000 visitors daily.
The construction of this masterpiece began in 1248 and spanned over six centuries to complete its iconic form. 🏗
Approx. 300,000 tons of stones were used in its construction, including trachyte, sandstone, and limestone, creating stunning sculptures and canopies. ⛏
The colourful glass windows are especially impressive. I was fortunate to visit on a sunny day, and the windows looked beautiful. 😊
The cathedral features two imposing towers that dominate the skyline of Cologne. These twin spires have become an enduring iconic symbol of the city. 🌆
Next time I visit Cologne, I want to climb up the Southern Tower's 533 steps. At the top, there is the world's largest swinging bell, the Saint Peter bell, which weighs an insane 24 tonnes. 🤯
𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚 𝐟𝐞𝐰 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐬:
◾ It miraculously survived World War II bombings.
◾ In 1996, Cologne Cathedral was deservedly added to UNESCO's World Heritage list.
◾ For a brief period, from 1880 to 1884, it held the prestigious title of the world's tallest building at 157 meters.
◾ Innovative building techniques, such as cranes, hoists, and wooden scaffolding, were employed during construction, a remarkable feat in the Middle Ages.

So, if you ever find yourself in Cologne, don't miss the chance to experience the majesty of the Cologne Cathedral firsthand. 🙋♀️ (it's right next to the main train station...)

🌍 International Earth Day: The Heart of Glass.
Glass tells stories about our deep relationship to the world, from the sands of antiquity to the wonders of contemporary artistry.
Everything we do revolves around glass. Glass allows us to see farther, enabling the construction of windows—one of a building’s most crucial components.
The outside world, the sun rising through the building, and the surrounding natural environment. Only inside, through a window, is all of this possible to see and feel. A true vision without boundaries.
HYLINE opens the window to your dreams.

Medieval Europe's Gothic style boasts pointed arches, ribbed vaults, and flying buttresses in cathedrals with intricate stained glass and stone carvings.
3.Renaissance Architecture:
Reviving classical elements, Renaissance architecture (15th-16th century) showcases domes, pilasters, and classical motifs in balanced, proportional designs.
4.Baroque Architecture:
From the 17th century, Baroque architecture is opulent, with curving forms, ornate facades, and grand interiors featuring gilded stucco, frescoes, and sculptures.
