The Ennis 2040 Strategy is based upon and defined by 12 guiding principles that were identified during the analysis and consultation phases of the strategy development. Central to Ennis's future success will be the strength, sustainability and adaptability of its economy. These guiding principles have been chosen to ensure we build resilience from internal and external shocks (e.g. the pandemic) and also deliver on our shared vision for the long-term future of Ennis. The 12 principles reflect what we have learnt so far about our town, its history, challenges and opportunities, the surrounding neighbourhoods and the communities that live and work within them. Plans to invest up to €30m in Peatland Tracks and Trails are progressing as tenders are being sought for the project funded under the EU Just Transition Fund. Overseen by Bord na Móna, the scheme will see peatlands under the ownership of the body opened up to trail investments with priorities on linking peatlands to the existing network of greenways and blueways across the region. The move is the latest investment in active travel and recreation trails in the Midlands region, already home to hundreds of kilometres of dedicated walking and cycling trails including the Grand Canal Greenway, Royal Canal Greenway, Old Rail Trail, Barrow Blueway, and the Slieve Bloom Mountain Bike Trails, the longest MTB’s in Ireland and the UK. 💤🌻🚴♀️ Today is a rest day on the #tourdefrance and the first week has been full of thrills and thankfully not too many spills. The highlight was of course Mark Cavendish winning his 35th stage, beating the record for most tour wins. Mark's first TDF win was 2008! 😲 Back with our Active Teams Grand Tour cycling challenge and the employees competing have ridden almost 2,500 miles in just one week!!! Teams of employees from DNV, Triodos Bank, true and UNRVLD hold the top five positions. But there's still a long way to go, so pace yourselves! The challenge is not really about winning, it's about giving employees the motivation to cycle and exercise more. We find in all our Active Teams team challenges that taking part with colleagues is a huge motivator. While some people have taken to long weekend rides, some riders have been commuting by bike more. My approach has been to wake up earlier and cycle ten miles before starting work. The extra exercise has given me more energy during the day, helped me sleep better and has given my fitness a much needed boost as I return to running from injury. 🔥 Well done everyone, keep up the incredible efforts! 🚀 Active Teams – Move More, Live Better, Work Smarter. #TDF, #TDF2024, #EmployeeExperience, #WellbeingAtWork, #EmployeeWellbeing, #OnYerBike

Cultural change is happening in horse sports. From traditionalism to welfare culture, equestrian normalised behaviour needs to change to showcase the needs of the horse. As equestrian leaders, we need to have curiosity for data, courage to adapt existing norms, and responsivity to place the horse's lived experience over human needs. Adapting our normalised behaviours is crucial to horse welfare and future-proofing equestrian sports. The Grandnational 2024 is a great example of how cultural change can happen in equestrianism. Let's embrace adaptation, as it's the only way a species can survive. As Darwin said, "It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is most adaptable to change." #equestrian #culturalchange #horsewelfare #adaptation #responsivity
