Mental Toughness describes how individuals deal mentally with stressors, pressure and challenge. It applies to everything that people do and embraces qualities such as mindset, character, resilience and grit. Professor Peter Clough initially identified four key components of Mental Toughness – the 4 Cs – Control, Commitment, Challenge and Confidence. We are now able, through research, to see that these consist of 8 independent factors. We can measure this with the MTQPlus.
