In celebration of Wimbledon fortnight, we are revisiting our hugely successful podcast episode featuring Dr Jim Loehr We were delighted to have the opportunity to engage in a truly thoughtful discussion with one of the greatest minds behind researching and applying mental toughness - Dr Jim Loehr. Dr Jim Loehr is a world-renowned performance psychologist, whose ground-breaking, science-based work on the mental toughness concept has achieved worldwide recognition. An understanding which is based on his work with hundreds of world-class performers from the worlds of business, public administration, medicine and sport, including tennis players Jim Courier, Monica Seles, and Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario. Jim Loehr's holistic approach to performance psychology, backed by his vast experience working with elite athletes, shone a light on the critical role of character strengths in achieving success and fulfilment. As a researcher and practitioner, Dr Loehr recognises the need to blend scientific knowledge with practical application to facilitate optimal performance. An approach very consistent with AQR International’s approach. By emphasising the importance of character in personal achievement and overall life satisfaction, his insights offer a valuable perspective for individuals striving for excellence in their endeavours. Split into two parts, the first episode explores the early days of his pioneering career and how he came to understand the mental toughness concept. “Your toughness ultimately comes from your core, comes from the core of who you are, your identity. Not just as a performer but as a human being that has value in work, and the way you treat others as a reflection of that core.“ Jim Loehr. A couple of months ago, I hosted a 6-part class series on “Sexual Alchemy”. The series was inspired by work I had done then for an organization, along this very theme, and I was moved to explore it further, by sharing this work and offering pathways for healing. The intention of the series were (and are) to deeply explore and unpack: • What the s*xual wound is and how it manifests in our world, in us as individuals, and in our relationships. • The series also serves to explore what s*xual healing work is, as a pathway of healing, and what it is that might necessitate this work. • In the series, we also explore why s*xual healing is for everyone, across all genders. • And we also unpack the significance of s*xual healing work for leaders, with one of the episodes focusing specifically on this. • And throughout the series, with deeply explore how to heal the s*xual wound, offering pathways of healing that one can lean into to facilitate healing for the various ways in which this wound manifests. • And finally, the series also introduces and explores s*xual energy as a creational energy that ought to be nurtured, and sometimes protected, for it to serve as the valuable resource that it is for our personal lives. The teaching sessions of the series are now available on my Podcast where you can engage this work, in support of your own psycho-spiritual education and healing. And if this resonates, you may listen to these episodes on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and everywhere you listen to podcasts via the link below. Episodes 52 - 57. https://lnkd.in/dVqtyxti . . Would you rather self-administer safe, yet painful, electric shocks or sit idle in a room? 🤔 Apparently many people would rather administer the shocks, according to Oliver Burkeman, bestselling author of 4,000 Weeks, who I had the pleasure of hosting on the Future Squared Podcast. 🎙 This phenomenon underscores a profound aspect of human psychology: the challenge of simply doing nothing. 🤷♂️ Nietzsche argued that haste is universal, because everywhere you go, man is in flight from...himself. I often try to sit alone in a room with nothing to keep me occupied for 30 minutes or more. It's challenging but seems to build my attention span and ability to focus on one thing at a time - important in a world where the average person switches screens once every 40 seconds. In the coming weeks, I'll be launching a brand new season of Future Squared, with guests including the likes of author Scott H Young and entrepreneur Taryn Williams. Make sure to subscribe on Spotify or Apple Podcasts to catch those interviews, and many more (link in first comment). #HumanBehavior #Psychology #Productivity #Wellbeing #Mindfulness

High Performance Executive & Team Coach | Mental Fitness Expert | Best Selling Author #RealTalkMentalFitness | Performance Psychologist | Podcast Host
🎙️ NEW EPISODE ALERT !!! 🎙️ Happy Friday everyone, it's that time again, time to dig into your latest juicy serving of #RealTalkMentalFitness podcast. It was such a special treat having the #generationlguru on, Rekha Gibbons. We learned so much from her. The importance of generational diversity in our workplace, families and communities. As well as reverse mentoring--all generations have something to teach and learn from each other. The sooner we start doing this the more chance we have of thriving. Especially with the explosion of AI and Machine Learning. The biggest eye opener for me was changing my view on Gen Z. They get a bad rap. But things like bringing your authentic self to work and advocating for greater inclusion and mental fitness, we have Gen Z to thank for. They had the courage to call things out and say 'No I'm not accepting this'. My generation (Gen X) and millennials were too quick to swallow crap at work and say 'that's just life, suck it up and get on with it'. Don't get me wrong, there is a balance needed and the different generations need to learn from each other. Trust us, this episode is a treasure trove of wisdom, not to be missed! Stream the podcast now to empower your journey towards mental fitness and elevated performance. 🚀 Please, can I ask for your help with promoting the podcast? Rate it on Spotify and leave a review on Youtube and Apple Podcast. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 And share it with others. 🗣 Stay tuned for our next episode coming in two weeks and remember sustainable adaptability, self-love, and growth for the road ahead. Best regards, The Real Talk - Mental Fitness Team (Ije & Chinazom) #generationalguru #mindsetcoaching #mentalfitness #selflove

In the Achieve More podcast series, I focus on tools that help people, teams and organizations overcome their challenges and thrive. In my latest "Achieve More" podcast, I focus on a topic that impacts anyone in their 30s and 40s and older.: I am looking at how we can age successfully. “Successful Aging” refers to maintaining a high quality of life as we grow older, characterized by physical health, mental sharpness, emotional well-being, and social engagement. Why is this important to look at? Numerous reputable well-done evidence-based studies have found that focusing on how we approach living our life in our 40s and 50s has a huge impact on the quality of our life in our later years. On this topic, Dr. Daniel Levitin is a renowned author, researcher, and neuroscientist who has recently released an excellent book on the topic. The book is extremely well-researched and evidence-based. In this podcast, I introduce his top ten list and bring in other research and ideas. In this short clip from my podcast, I introduce the concept of Primary Emotions. I share the 4 emotions that fall in this category, then explain why humans choose to move away from primaries - toward another type of emotion. Awareness of our primary emotions helps us to understand the drivers of our behaviours, and why we do the things we do. Have you listened to our latest podcast episode "The Paraplanner's Guide to Neurodiversity". We all occupy our place in a neurodiverse world. But if the way we think is plotted on a spectrum, most of us would be considered 'neurotypical'. Yet plenty of us - at least 1 in 10 in the UK - function, learn and process information differently from the neurotypical. So we may be neurodifferent but, despite thinking differently, we're expected to adapt and succeed in a world that's geared towards neurotypical people. Inspired by a post and thread at The Big Tent, we invited consultant and founding director of About Consulting Group, Jon Dunckley to join Richard to talk about neurodifference and paraplanning. In a really absorbing, practical and illuminating hour, Jon - who is autistic - offers insights and ideas that will be invaluable to you if you're neurodifferent, or work with, live with or know people who are. Podcast #7 Staffordhsire University’s Performing Under Pressure Podcast (Dr Paul Mansell & Prof Matt Slater) https://lnkd.in/e-tFzhH5 Guest Dr Jamie Barker Summary/key points Yet another extremely digestible episode from the Performing Under Pressure cast. I am really enjoying this podcast due to their ability to really simplify things and deliver it in meaningful ways. Something that I think is a huge challenge, but also something that as a psychology society we can be guilty of NOT doing. This was epitomised by the definition of performing under pressure which was captured as the ability to deliver when it matters and not being your worst. In some ways this shines a light on ideas around choking, but has a huge emphasis on being our best, regardless of what that is on the day because pressure can be something that really does change the way we feel, think and act. This allowed them to explore some ideas around challenge and threat states and interestingly they were able to dovetail it into the progression of one’s career as a psychologist. This was mainly captured by the idea of viewing situations as exciting opportunities which can allow for learning and development, as opposed to worrying about failure or the environments that we may find ourselves in. Much time was also spent discussing the journey of becoming a psychologist and practicing as one, the importance of role models and having an idea of what we want to do, but appreciating that we may not always know the final destination of where we may end. Without making this too much of a read, I’ll briefly highlight some of the other major content (no idea how this was all fit into a sub-1h podcast!). The spoke about the importance of being consistent, the psychology of stress, applied implications, personal disclosures, approaches to applied work (social identity approach) and how we can look to push performance vs ‘fix’. The episode finished with some key points for practitioners: 1. Develop your ability to say “no” 2. Don’t take yourself too seriously 3. Have multiple parts to your own identity 4. Develop your opportunity mindset Who should listen? A hugely valuable episode which would be beneficial for practitioners at various stages of their careers. It may even be useful for people considering implementation of sport psychology to hear what it can look like.
