Recently, our NeRoo prototype visited the beautiful city of Istanbul 🇹🇷. ☀️ Istanbul holds a special place in the history of coffee. Here are some fascinating facts about its unique coffee culture 🤓: 𝐁𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞: Istanbul is often credited with introducing the concept of the coffeehouse. The first coffeehouse in Istanbul, Kiva Han, opened in the 1550s and quickly became popular for socializing, intellectual discussions, and business. 𝐔𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐂𝐎 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Turkish coffee culture and tradition were inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2013, highlighting its cultural significance and rich heritage. 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐝: Turkish coffee is brewed using a special method where finely ground coffee is simmered in water (and often sugar) in a pot called a "cezve" or "ibrik." The result is a strong, flavourful coffee with a thick foam on top, often served with a piece of Turkish delight. 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐞-𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: After drinking Turkish coffee, it's common to turn the cup upside down on the saucer and let the grounds settle. The patterns left by the grounds are then interpreted to predict the future, a practice known as "tasseography." 𝐂𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐝𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐲: Coffee played a significant role in the Ottoman Empire's diplomatic relations. Coffee ceremonies were an essential part of entertaining foreign dignitaries, showcasing the hospitality and cultural sophistication of the empire. As we explore Istanbul with our NeRoo cup, we appreciate the importance of sustainability and the joy of discovering new cultures. Join us on this journey and follow our adventures with NeRoo. #journeys #istanbul #travel #interesting #didyouknow #coffee #neroocup #reusable

As an Italian living and working now in the UK (happily in #Newcastle, not in London), it is quite fun reading such an article. It sketches a society still referred to what in the Eighties was called 'Milano da bere' where fashion, spritz, fancy money-makers and related paraphernalia were (and still are, apparently) the way of life. I appreciate it might look attractive for the target reader of this article. However, are we sure you want to be in a place that "pretend" to be Mayfair, but is not? Milan has many amazing qualities itself, however it becomes quite provincial everytime attempts to be another thing. It is a surface that rapidly fades, and british healthy snobism will quickly struggle with this façade attempt. You'll spend hours making fun of these stylish but not so elegant people with your fellow countrymen. A funny sport, I see, but not for a long time. So, if you want to move to Italy for fiscal reasons (but I'd be cautious, winds changes fast there with 67 governments since 1946) and you are very wealthy, there are more interesting options than Milan where you can find that spirit that makes you love Italy besides posh schools and roof gardens. However, wherever you go you will always have the advantage of finding lawyers whose last name is 'Lasagna'. Where else in the world but here?
