Africa is considered the largest untapped consumer market for electricity in the world, according to Bboxx CEO Mansoor Hamayun. This presents a significant opportunity for renewable energy companies. However, several challenges, such as inadequate infrastructure and affordability, contribute to this scenario. Companies providing off-grid power solutions could benefit immensely from this market. According to a Kleos Advisory Africa report referenced by Azuri Technologies, the commercial potential for off-grid solar power alone amounts to up to $24 billion annually. This underscores the market opportunities available to renewable energy companies like Bboxx, which offer off-grid pay-as-you-go service models to address affordability and infrastructure issues. Thus enabling scalable growth across the continent in a rapidly expanding market. #RenewableEnergy #AfricaOpportunity https://lnkd.in/dmbEzn9z

American Tower (ATC) is making remarkable strides in the renewable energy space, particularly in Africa and India. The innovative "power-as-a-service" model, powered by #solarenergy has yielded substantial benefits, including a remarkable 21% reduction in per-tower emissions intensity in Africa during 2022, compared to 2019. Solar energy adoption has doubled, resulting in a significant 43.5 million liters reduction in annual diesel consumption, equivalent to avoiding approximately 117,000 MTCO2. This success has prompted ATC to explore the expansion of the "power-as-a-service" concept to new markets. The focus on lowering GHG emissions, with a 9.5% reduction in 2022 compared to a 2019 baseline, demonstrates ATC's dedication to a #greenerfuture The ambitious target of a 40% emissions reduction (including Scope 3) by 2035 is a testament to ATC's commitment to sustainability through energy-efficiency measures, #renewableenergy and #energystorage ATC's substantial investment, totaling $500 million over a decade, has led to impressive results, including exceeding the 2025 target of installing 66 megawatts of solar capacity ahead of schedule. As of 2022, 14,500 of ATC's 224,000 towers are equipped with onsite solar energy, generating 70,000MWh per year. The recent "Green Site" specification introduced in partnership with Airtel Africa, covering network rollouts in Kenya, Niger, Nigeria, and Uganda, underscores ATC's collaborative approach toward sustainability. ATC's efforts in driving #renewables not only benefit the #environment but also create a positive impact on cost reduction, which, combined with the "power-as-a-service" approach, provides valuable advantages to mobile operator partners. Stay tuned for updates as ATC continues to pioneer sustainable solutions, contributing to a cleaner, greener future for all. 🌍☀️ #sustainability #renewableenergy #innovation #cleantech #greenfuture #innovation #technology #telecommunications #telecoms #cleanenergyfuture #cleanenergytransition #sustainabledevelopment #solarpowered #solarenergy #solarpowersystem #solarmodules #solarpanels #renewableenergysystems #infrastructure #advantage #solar

More than 20 million #Malagasy people live without electricity today. Access to grid-based electricity is particularly limited in rural areas, where 80% of the country lives, but only 5% have electricity. To address these challenges, Nanoé - Madagascar 💡 has designed a programme called lateral electrification based on providing #solarenergy (nano-grids) and franchising their business model as a solution for providing #energyaccess and employment for young people in #Madagascar. These #nanogrids are collective solar home systems (#SHS) delivering power to households that use mobile prepayments to purchase daily access to an electrical service adapted to their needs. "Since I used Nanoé's services, I can continue to sell my products even at night. This has increased my income considerably”, says Randria, Nanoé’s customer. PFAN has worked with Nanoé, made possible through a collaboration with ADEME.
