(and yes, more women in business!) ❷ Being a founder can be a solitary journey, and you have to be comfortable navigating it on your own, especially in the initial stages, to make it work. – I completely agree. The feeling of solitude is present from day one. Not only do you have to accept it, but you should also surround yourself with friends, family, and women founders who understand what you're going through, supporting each other's entrepreneurial journey. ❸ I love this one: "embracing a growth mentality." – This doesn't just apply to your business but to oneself. ❹ If you aim for rapid growth, funding is likely essential. Map out your growth path and cash flow. Prepare different scenarios. — 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲 is one of the top lessons learned. Why? 🌟 Reflecting on 2023... As we approach the end of the year (I know, it's not quite over yet!), I just wanted to take a moment to express a resounding WOW! 🚀 This year has been a game-changer. 🌟 Big lesson I learned from last year: Having a vision and executing it well doesn't always mean it's the "right" vision. 🌟 Let me explain... In 2023, we focused on: ⭐ Building our brand ⭐ Understanding our community ...primarily through events. And these events were 🔥🔥🔥. They did wonders for our brand and helped me connect with our customers. BUT... Our community now craves more: 1️⃣ More places to find us (more of the RIGHT distribution) 2️⃣ More product variations to fall in love with (announcement on this coming soon) So, this year is all about expanding and innovating. 🚀 Being a solo startup leader means learning on the go. I beat myself up a lot in the past few months for not course-correcting sooner (i.e. changing up distro and product strategy earlier), but I'm learning to just move forward. And don't worry, we're not ditching events. We're just getting smarter about them, partnering with other cool brands when it makes sense. 🤝 (aka First Round's On Me in the vid below). 🎙️ Thrilled to share my recent feature in Yahoo Entertainment! I had the privilege of offering commentary to Internet Culture Reporter Katie Mather on recent lawsuits filed by members of prominent reality TV franchises: the Real Housewives and Vanderpump Rules. Drawing upon my background as a former employment litigator and now mediator specializing in employment claims within the entertainment industry, I provided insights into the potential success of these lawsuits. It's a fascinating intersection of law and entertainment, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the conversation. Founding my own brand/company outside my homeland, specifically even in Germany??? Absolutely: I love tough challenges... I am extremely happy and proud of having achieved such thing; and after long months of creativity, efforts, concerns, excitement, money, fine tuning and patience (A LOT OF PATIENCE), last week we officially launched our website to the outside world as the cherry of a cake that started baking in my mind almost a year ago already. I cannot be happier, considering the big obstacles on the way as an expat to set up a brand from scratch following all the requirements in a proper way. Now it is finally done and running. Another box I can tick in a list which I am not willing to finish at all. I am an entrepreneur from the soul, and I live this way, not only for business or with money in return for any activity. I am firm believer that we live only once and we should all try at least to make the best out of it. Otherwise it becomes a stinky, mediocre routine with a small minded life (which, by the way, is very short and passes by quite quick). Free Story Tuesday: The Coleman Company, Inc. An open letter to common sense as narrated by Nick Offerman... Dear world, It seems like we've maybe gotten a little off track. Fights at department stores over insulated water bottles just because they are now available in pink? Models strutting their way down runways wearing the same jacket we wear to chop wood and mend fences? Five hundred dollar coolers to hold two dollars worth of ice and overthought beer that tastes like dessert and the contents of someone's dream journal? Selling people camp chairs designed to withstand a hard landing in a wounded airliner for the price of jewelry just so they can watch their kid's baseball games? Maybe it's time we take a breath. Let's pause to reassess our priorities for a minute. What ever happened to designing things to last? What happened to making the highest quality items to get the job done and selling them at a reasonable price that is both affordable for the buyer and profitable for the manufacturer? And weren't those products meant to help people collect real experiences in the real world? When did the product become the star of the show instead of the sturdy and reliable accessory? Maybe that's the world we're living in, where style and possession, trend and fad feel so important because we've forgotten that the point of life is living, not having, and products are supposed help us seek invaluable experiences, not tell others what we're worth. We may not be able to change the ways things seem to be going, but we sure aren't going to change who we are and what we do. For 124 years, we've worked hard based on a simple idea: make the best products possible and sell them at a reasonable price so our customers can explore the world with confidence and without having to choose between gear that works or memories that last. We may not show up on a lot of #FYPs but you can find us at the campsite, on the trail and in the trunk of the family roadster while connections are forged -- between families and friends, people and places, across generations and around campfires -- and experiences leave indelible marks. So, as the world continues to spin out and keeping up requires losing any sense of self, we encourage you to take a minute, disconnect from your screen and experience what surrounds. Drink in the enormity of the world. Get lost in the night sky. Feel the rhythm of the forest breeze and the gentle power of the river passing by as the weight of all you stepped away from lifts and you experience things more important than likes, trends and other people's opinions. APPRECIATION. Something we are told to show. Having found myself awake after another visit to the small room overnight l could not sleep. The older readers of this post will appreciate this. Anyway, l thought the time available allowed me to think of showing some appreciation and the value of time came to mind (l am 71 years of age). Strangely, SCROLLING on my phone pushed itself to the front of mind. Some, many Geeks out there somewhere created a device that gives us more time. No more hunting through an Encyclopaedia for information. No more searching through an A to Z on your lap while planning a journey. No more flipping over the pages of the phone book or Yellow pages while looking up phone numbers. Yes, l know these benefits are only possible through other technological gains...but the simple creation of scrolling saves us that most valuable of things time. What we do with that time is a different matter again. So, inventors and adaptors of scrolling, THANK YOU for the gift of time, conveniently delivered. Data for a thousand things found in minimal time.
