Medical Doctor General Practitioner (GP) RCGP National First 5 Chair PCN Health Inequalities Lead NHSE CE Founder MedAcronyms App.
Swansea,Wales ✅ In my capacity as UK First 5 Chair of Royal College of General Practitioners, it was a beautiful experience going to celebrate with our latest GPs in Swansea, as they became members and fellows of the college. Despite several debates going on, it was important to dedicate the day to celebrate the achievements of these new members and fellows as well. Personally, the opportunity to have 1:1 discussions about the various options post CCT was fulfilling. Do things in GP land need to get better? Absolutely, Yes! Nevertheless, for that change to happen-we need to recognise we all have a part to play in it. For the new GPs, it’s all about recognising what part you’d love to focus on. To everyone reading this, regardless of what industry you are in-challenge yourself to bringing a solution to your sector. No solution is too small. Sometimes what stops us is US! It also makes me wonder - what else limits/stops you sometimes from making a positive difference in your sector and how did you navigate it? Meanwhile, Huge congrats once again to #TeamGP.

The intricate relationship between slavery and education in St. Vincent and the Grenadines reflects the island's colonial history and ongoing pursuit of empowerment. Enslaved individuals were systematically denied education during the colonial era to maintain control and exploitation, hindering personal growth and perpetuating subjugation. After emancipation and the decline of the plantation system, efforts were made to establish educational institutions for the previously enslaved. However, the British education policy for Caribbean colonies aimed at producing a limited number of educated elites to serve colonial masters. Following the nation's independence, education gained traction as a tool for social advancement, extending access to all citizens and diverging from the oppressive past. Nevertheless, enduring inequalities stemming from slavery still impact education. Disparities in quality education, especially in marginalized regions, underscore persistent systemic imbalances. Addressing this challenge necessitates fostering inclusivity and equity. Today, the education system in St. Vincent and the Grenadines continues to grapple with its colonial legacy. Despite many challenges, attempts to reform the education system are underway. The growing recognition of education's pivotal role in national development presents hope for a truly equitable educational landscape through concerted effort. Encouraging Vincentians to pursue higher education abroad presents a potential solution. This equips them with skills to contribute to their homeland's growth and break the cycle of inequality. However, the prospect of brain drain looms, with some not returning due to limited opportunities domestically. Government intervention is vital in countering this trend by establishing frameworks that optimize the benefits of higher education. Incentives for return, coupled with programs nurturing skilled workers, can align advanced education with the country's progress. This comprehensive strategy holds the potential to redress historical imbalances and propel St. Vincent and the Grenadines toward a more equitable and promising future. Moreover, ensuring equitable access to the wealth of learning resources available in the UK and Europe for descendants of the enslaved and indigenous peoples, including funding for infrastructure development and access to educational materials, holds immense importance in understanding and embracing origins. We are proud of our little school. And though we are growing and changing, we will remain small. Our super power lies in the connection we have to each other, our students, and the Rüfenacht community. That connection means that our excellent education lands in rich soil. Connection fuels the ability to grow and learn. #internationaleducation #britishcurriculum #expatsofbern #individualizededucation
