Israeli smart label startup Sensos announced that it has raised $20 million in Series A funding. Mitsui & Co., Ltd.-backed Magenta Venture Partners led the round and was joined by JAL Ventures Fund, ICL Israel Cargo Logistics LTD and Sumitomo Corporation. Sensos’ globally connected labels, which are the size of a credit card, report 6-dimensional telemetry shipment data in real-time, without requiring any additional infrastructure. The labels alert on movement, dwell, departure, arrival and do-not-enter zones, allow inventory to check itself in/out without any human interaction and monitor in real-time for temperature, pressure, tilt and shock to meet the most demanding regulations or product requirements. Alex Zhou has been elevated to managing partner at Qiming Venture Partners, a venture capital firm, with the responsibility of leading the business's investments in emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence. Zhou joined Qiming as a vice president in 2014 and has subsequently managed or participated in #investments in tech firms across the AI, robotics, semiconductor, new energy vehicles, and software sectors. Zhou is Qiming's fourth managing partner, following Duan Kuang, Nisa Leung, and William 旭波 Hu 胡. His noteworthy investments include the consumer products company Roborock, which is funded by Xiaomi, the robotics manufacturer UBTech, the voice recognition unicorn Unisound, the AI chip developer Biren Technology, and the electric vehicle manufacturer ROX Motor. Additionally, he made investments in Zhipu AI, one of China's fastest-rising generative AI businesses aiming to emulate the success of US counterparts like OpenAI and Anthropic, and Deepway, a robotruck #startup supported by Baidu. A business statement on Thursday said that Zhou's elevation to the most senior position in the company "demonstrates Qiming's continued confidence in the future of technology innovation." ✨ Big news from our portfolio - Exit of #INSPEKTO We are happy to announce that Siemens has acquired our MAHLE New Ventures portfolio startup INSPEKTO. The startup developed a unique, AI-based visual inspection system for a wide range of production applications. It fills the gap in quality assurance and defect detection on the assembly line in today's automated production world. Four MAHLE plants are already successfully using the system in series production and another 12 plants have purchased systems for pilot applications. Over the years, the INSPEKTO team has developed a production-ready system, so it is not surprising that other major customers are now using INSPEKTO systems in their production. The startup is now being sold to Siemens, which is a great #success for the INSPEKTO team!
