For the last 17 of 20 years since my hubby has lived here in Melbourne, we have rung in New Years Eve with the age old Finnish tradition of uudenvuodentina. The melting of tin over a live fire to predict your future dates back to the eighteenth century and was originally only for the Finnish-Swedish high society (tin was expensive). Now it is a fun thing to do for a lot of Finnish families. First, the tin is melted in a large spoon over a fire and once molten, the metal is poured into a bucket of ice cold water. The second the liquid hits the water, it cools and instantly re-solidifies. As a result, random shapes of the tin are formed and interpreted to cast predictions for the New Year. This year, in our family, Arto’s was a tiger roaring into a great new job; mine was a volcano about to explode with abundance; Ollie’s was a sail ready to take on adventure and Kristian’s was a flower about to blossom. (see above) Other shapes and their meanings include: 🌊Waves: Big changes are coming in the upcoming year. ⚓️An anchor: Your year will be filled with stability and commitment. 🐇A rabbit: A new addition to the family will happen soon. 🐻A bear: You’ll fight and compete with a friend. 🐱A cat: This year, you'll make enemies and resort in scheming. 🎸A guitar: You’ll encounter someone lovely, which could evolve into a relationship. The other thing to look for is the texture: A lot of holes: Lots of success and opportunities ahead. A lot of texture: Money and wealth will enter your life. A long, tail-like shape: In the upcoming year, your health will be flourishing and you'll live a long life. We have done this with many friends and our own family over the years and it is a great way of bringing a bit of Arto’s culture to our Aussie lives. It is also fun and who doesn’t want more fun?! Roll on 2024. #finland #newyearseve #traditions #familyrituals #conversationsthatmatter #curious Hearsay Platform BrandHook Arto Taalikka

It is almost hypocritical corporate communication to claim that we ensure work-life balance at global companies. However, I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of a company where promoting holidays isn't merely a policy but an integral part of our business culture. 🔎 Why is this important? 🔛 Because with a motivated and inspired team, you can achieve greater things faster. Because we want our team to become better versions of themselves inside and outside the company. ▶ TransferGo awards us with super generous holiday offers (which increase every year!), endless Trust days, and at least two days for volunteering. ▶ Combine this with flexible opportunities to work from home or anywhere in the world. ▶ Add top managers who openly share their vacation plans so the team can arrange their schedules accordingly. ▶ Sprinkle in a respectful team that honors work-life boundaries. ⭐ Read more about the practices we adopt. Myself and our inspirational Chief People Officer Sarah Fern Chartered FCIPD shared some thoughts from our daily business life. Thank you Irtautė Gutauskaitė for bringing this to light. 💫 https://lnkd.in/dGF4wPdf.

Psychologist and social entrepreneur - Helping people and companies with their social skills and team engagement - experience maker for retreats in Europe.
Intentions ✨ I've been thinking about this for years. It didn't happen overnight. 🌱 In June I was in Anceu Coliving, a place full of magic. It's a rural co-living in Galicia, where we live together people from more than 10 different nationalities. 🗺️ 🏡 Sharing in the everyday fosters familiarity, allowing you to feel at home even in a new place. 👤 I can see that there was a people-centered design, with spaces planned to give comfort to their colivers (coliving participants). This way, we have enough peace and quiet to not feel overwhelmed by living with 15 other people. ❤️ Many people (and animals) synchronize to create the soul of the place. It is lived in love, care and respect. I repeat, I have been thinking about this for years when still living in Argentina. It didn't happen overnight. I asked for it. ✨ I am aware of the great privileges I have had and have in my life. 🤲 I am mindful of all the people who inspired me to pursue this type of online work, which allows me to live in an international community. 👣 I am also aware of the efforts I made to be where I am and to lead this lifestyle that I dreamed so much, that I intended so many times. Not everything is magic, choosing this lifestyle makes me miss many other moments with my family and friends. It is clear to me, these are life choices and I must be guided by what my inner compass indicates. 🧭 🌍 I knew I wanted to participate in international projects, to belong to global communities that nurture my experiences and enhance my life learnings. 👣 Step by step I created the life I wanted for myself, and I am living the life I want to live. I am here to live, to accompany people in their life projects, and nothing better than nurturing mine to be able to inspire others. ✨ I created BWell Lab with Tomás Nores to be able to work remotely, in projects that promote people's quality of life and to be able to be in places like this. What steps are you taking for your dreams? What are going to be your intentions this month? #Intentions #Dreams #Lifestyle

Gründer & Leder MadeToGrow / Brenner for å inspirere og utvikle menneskers mestring, robusthet og potensial
Getting to live for 6 weeks in an of-the-grid ecovillage, was a life-impacting experience for me. In addition to learning how to live and thrive sustainable on many levels, it was an interesting experience in how much easier change into more healthy and sustainable ways of living is, when you are in an environment that is nudging you. Our stay here also many times made me reflect on what #diversity really is about, for me. I believe learning to be open-minded, curious, adaptable, have a positive mindset toward others, and be able to detect your biases and prejudices, are of the most important. Because, when we are, we do no longer need to talk about gender, race, age, religion, culture, or sexual orientation. We only need to talk about humans and how to respect and be inclusive to all, regardless of differences and labels we put on each other. We are more similar than different anyway. Change, adaptability, and diversity is first of all an inside job. Leaders, organizations, and societies can contribute by nudging us to become more civilized humans. What are some specific actions you do or recommend to foster change capacity and diversity? #mindset #learning #meaning #relationship #mastery #selfesteem #motivation #health
MadeToGrow is on a big journey, where we travel to countries around the world to learn and get inspiration from different ways on how human potential can be developed and what brings life and career quality. Regardless of nationality and culture, most people in the world strive to be happy. During our trip, we experience over and over, how many people are stressed, depressed and disconnected, both from themselves, other people and nature. Many don't manage to get out of it, but some do. What are some of the possibilities and inspirational stories that can guide us? MadeToGrow had the pleasure to live in Piracanga Eco Village for 6 weeks to dive deep and explore this quite different way of living. We are touched to the core by the amazing people here, the way they live and how they built a community where people truly can thrive. Last week we shared a video with the conversation with Santiago Lingurini from Argentina, who went on a long journey from a stressful city life, to find his home in Piracanga, Brazil, where he has been part of building up this village and community. In this video he takes us on a guided tour around Piracanga Eco Village, so we can see how the village is built, how it works and how it is to live here. We believe Piracanga is showing one good way of building community, where both people and nature can sustain and thrive. #mindset #relationship #meaning #health #motivation #selfesteem #mastery #learning https://lnkd.in/dKtZRTZ4
