Our kids are growing up in a confused and chaotic world. Think about the questions they're having to face: - Can boys be girls and girls be boys? - Deep down aren't we all really racists? - Shouldn't every kid be on social media? All of their friends are! - Isn't Christianity an outdated way of thinking, even a bigoted & hateful way of thinking? - Isn't our true identity our sexual identity? That's why MAVEN is bringing the MAVEN Conference to Texas on September 8-9. Parents. Grandparents. Youth workers. Homeschoolers. Sunday school teachers. Pastors. Christian educators. If you’re an adult in any position to influence young lives, don’t miss this opportunity to get the Christian worldview training you need. We’ll help you navigate the challenges of today’s world, for the sake of the next generation. https://lnkd.in/gJqPbFj

As we kick off a new month of acceptance and awareness around autism, let's make sure we celebrate and advocate for everyone. No one has the right to dictate how an autistic person should show up or deny anyone's lived experience. It's important to recognize the impact of intersectionality and how it shapes our views and understanding. We can't claim to be inclusive if we then prescribe how people present, identify or seek support. Let's celebrate our neuro diversity and advocate for a world where difference isn't a deficit. #NeuroDiversity #Inclusion #Acceptance #Awareness Image: background- Black woman looks into lense. https://lnkd.in/dYRjrv4V I'm excited to introduce Schereeya Reid, a dynamic playwright, poet, artist, and business person to discuss the issue of people of color seeing themselves as they read about neurodiversity. It’s extremely important that a person of any race, gender, or ethnic group can have that “Oh, that makes sense” moment when they read the work of an autistic writer, for example, when someone has the intersectionality of being Black and autistic. When a person has multiple identifications this often results in overlapping systems of discrimination. A Black person faces expectations from peers and discrimination in how they are treated by non-Black people in our society; this is compounded by the ableism they encounter based on autism. The self-knowledge of recognizing autism is a critical piece of self-acceptance. Schereeya is Black, autistic, and Transmasc non-binary. #everythingneurodiversity #holiday #holidaycheer #cheer #cheers #neurodiversity #neurodivergent #holidays #autism #autistic #adult #autismawareness #autismo #autisticchild #autismacceptance #autismsupport #neurodiversity #robertbernstein #marciaeckerd

Symbols and images matter! ♾️🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️♾️ Symbols and images have histories. While the multi-colored puzzle pieces were meant to bring awareness to Autism, how it was done was based in the idea that there is something pieced apart, broken, and imperfect about the Autistic mind and Autistic human experience. There are also negative ties to organizations that are focused on curing Autism because they see it as something making humans less than in our society rather than seeing them as valued members and natural part of diversity. ♾️🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️♾️ Autistic self-advocates have created amazing new symbols and images. These creations continue even today! For right now, the symbols that are most accepted by the Autistic community are the infinity symbol. The gold infinity represents the Autistic community and the rainbow infinity represents the neurodivergent community. ♾️🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️♾️ We must listen to lived experience and follow the lead of the Autistic community. Their voices should be amplified and their needs should be validated. #Autism #Autistic #AutismAcceptance #AutismEmpowerment #AutismAppreciation #AutismMonth #AutisticMonth #Inclusion #Accessibility #Neuroaffirming #MontcoPa #MontcoLGBTBusinessCouncil #LGBTBusinessCouncil #BuildingCommunity #MontcoProud #Visibility #Neurodivergent #HumanDiversity

Available: ‘Parent’s Notice to Schools’, provided by author of ‘Lost in Trans Nation’, Dr Mariam Grossman MD. She delivers PSA (5:45 in segment) direct to parents. From her website, miriamgrossmanmd.com - download professionally prepared legal document (3 pgs). When delivered to school Principal, puts school on notice, re: child. Please refer to legal doc for specifics outlining parameters dictating parental right to notice and demand for alternate curriculum to be provided. Within body of legal document, it clearly states, ‘Finally, should the school district interpret Title IX to require affirmation of a child’s asserted gender identity, please note that our constitutionally-protected parental rights to direct the upbringing, education, and medical and mental care of our child[ren] cannot be superseded by Title IX or any other federal statute’. Dr Grossman closes by addressing her personal risk is at stake for her work and potentially, for delivering info to parents via book. Prior legalease, criminalizing Christian Conversion Therapy, is being expanded to capture Psychiatrists & Psychologists, forcing conformity in support of ‘Trans Affirming’ care or risk ‘accusation’ of endorsing support of ‘conversion therapy’. #mainstreetusa #veterans #christians #muslims #hindu #buddhists #veteranssupportingveterans #christianliving #church https://lnkd.in/gSrw9eRc

The language of #autism continues to change, and with it people’s identities. In this session, Gail Simon and Mairi Evans will share their experience, research and practice and invite you to discuss this topic taking into account your cultural, life and work contexts and experience. The Autism and Systemic Practice conference (www.systemicautism.com) that they help organize is an attempt to decolonize autism theory and practice and depathologize autistic people.
