Foot ulcers are among the most common complications of people with diabetes and one of the most common wound types seen across our RestorixHealth wound centers. For patients with diabetes-related foot ulcers, hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy is indicated for grade 3 lesions and above. It works by increasing the plasma volume of oxygen throughout the body. As a result, enhanced oxygen diffusion to tissues encourages wound healing. #DiabetesAwarenessMonth underscores the strong correlation between diabetes and #PeripheralArteryDisease (#PAD). Elevated blood sugar levels in diabetes can damage blood vessels, triggering the accumulation of plaque in blood vessel walls, which can lead to PAD. Early detection of PAD is critical, particularly for diabetic patients, as it can result in severe complications if left untreated. An understanding of this association is fundamental to improving patient outcomes. For further information, please refer to our blog at https://bit.ly/3Ygss2q #HealthAwareness #DiabetesPADConnection

It's #PHAwarenessMonth! We're talking about a rare form of PH - Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension: how is PAH diagnosed? Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension can take longer to diagnose because it's often not detected during a routine physical exam, and its symptoms are similar to those of other heart and lung conditions. It's important for newly diagnosed patients to find a healthcare professional who can accurately determine what is causing their symptoms and develop a treatment plan that is right for that specific type of PH as soon as possible. 💙 Swipe left! Today is World Sickle Cell Day, and we want to bring awareness to this disease. If you have sickle cell anemia, you need to take good care of your lungs. People with sickle cell can develop acute chest syndrome, which causes sickle cells to block vessels in the lungs. This is the largest cause of hospitalization and death in people with sickle cell. The best treatment is always prevention. Ask your doctor about getting an ultrasound of your heart to screen for pulmonary hypertension, or see a pulmonologist. And if you have a cough, fever or chest pain, get help immediately. We encourage you to take a minute to care for yourself. By paying attention to your lungs now, you can prevent complications down the road. #worldsicklecellday #sicklecell #healthcare

There are approximately 12 million Americans that have been diagnosed with COPD and many others that suffer from other pulmonary disorders like asthma. March 10-16 is designated as Pulmonary Rehab Week to bring awareness to this issue. One way for patients with these issues to self-monitor themselves is by using a pulse oximeter. This is especially important if a patient is using supplemental oxygen therapy at home. Knowing your oxygen saturation levels can help them determine when they need to use oxygen and/or if it is working effectively. Smart Meter's cellular-enabled iPulseOx® is easy to use and sends the results immediately to a healthcare professional. This allows for real-time tracking of oxygen saturation levels so adjustments can be made to prevent more severe issues. For more information about our proprietary iPulseOx, please fill out our contact form (https://lnkd.in/ge_2__5y), visit our website (https://smartmeterrpm.com/), or call 813-773-4080, ext. 1. #pulmonaryrehabweek #copdawareness #remotepatientmonitoring

#Myositis refers to a set of rare #autoimmunediseases that cause chronic inflammation and damage to muscles. According to The Myositis Association, it's common for patients to visit 5 doctors over 3.5 years before receiving an accurate diagnosis – and during this time, they often develop life-threatening complications. We're proud to join TMA in raising awareness and educating the healthcare community about this condition during #MyositisAwarenessMonth. Learn more at the TMA website at https://bit.ly/3UcHlly.
