Came across this Gem and couldn’t not share this. What the sales world needs to understand is that this also plays heavily into selling activities. If you are facing your clients in real life, all the benefits noted in this post will also apply to your client relationships. This also enhances the customer experience and allows your reps to better connect on the human level. If you are not performing actual outbound sales (visiting clients) you are missing out. Sure. You can argue that outside sales is expensive. Spot on Annie! There used to be the every day office paired with relational boondoggles” which was way too much…and now there’s this paradigm fear that “digital workforce” means never ever together…. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing…a digital environment provides new, unique opportunities for engaging and measuring collaborative effectiveness (and measuring transformational success) but to echo your point, the initial build of psychological safety is expedited by enriched, human interactions often more effective in person. Do we need that every day? No…we just need to enable relationships and reinforce through our new channels and focus on the TRUST factor.

Myth: Distributed companies don’t care about being in-person. Reality: Trust is often built in person and then reinforced. At Atlassian, we know that coming together matters, but we don’t believe that teams need to sit together 260 days a year. We bring teams together in-person 3-4 times a year, and make sure the priority is social bonding. Our research shows that these types of gatherings boost team connection by 27%, and that increase lasts for 4+ months. Great work can be done anywhere. Teams should meet to meet, not to work.
