The buyer is responsible for the whole process of researching and purchasing products, ensuring purchased products have the best achievable prices and the most favourable commercial terms.
Job Role:
Develop the buying vision and strategy which is aligned to business objectives.
Work with the Design team to develop, implement and deliver the creative strategy for all Hype products to maximise sales and achieve profit targets.
Use sales and performance information to steer the Brand and maximise opportunities.
Own the product critical path to ensure that seasonal capsules are launched on time and all stakeholders are aligned on milestones and deadlines.
Continually strive to improve and build mutually effective supplier relationships, as well as identify new sourcing opportunities and provide focused, clear development direction to the current supplier base.
Identify quality standards and ensure that all products meet those standards.
Negotiate with suppliers to agree prices, quantities, delivery windows and exclusivity deals.
Ensure competitive cost prices, speed, low MOQ’s whilst maintaining brand equity.
Meet suppliers and negotiate terms of contract (in-house sourcing / production).
Partner with the Merchandising team to plan the OTB and to monitor and review in season, making recommendations to the COO.
Work with Merchandising team to ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned purchase orders.
Perform competitive research and analysis to illustrate both strengths and weaknesses of products in all markets.
Adapt product offering based on customer feedback and behaviour.
Conduct regular performance analysis of the product and formulate initiatives to deliver financial targets, drive sales and optimise inventory.
Review long range plans, highlighting risks and opportunities and potential contingency plans.
Collate customer feedback on products – B2B and B2C.
Oversee comprehensive pre-season analysis to support range building and assortment definition.
Work with Merchandising to define style & SKU targets for collection development and buying.
Work with Merchandising to define carryover lists and plan the lifecycle of product as a starting point to the seasonal offer.
Ensure open communication with key accounts and stakeholders on a consistent basis regarding hits or misses for all product categories, thereby given the ability to react and analyse appropriately.
Ensure that buying is completely aligned with marketing, with products featured in campaigns always part of the buys.
Liaise with Production and Supply Chain to ensure priorities are aligned for key products.
Support the product compliance and QC policies by investigating and resolving any quality issues as they arise.
