Principal at MADDPROJECT

Earlier this year, I called a friend asking for advice on how to start the development side of MADDPROJECT. Despite not knowing me very closely, he understood exactly what I was asking. See, when you venture off to something new, people always have ‘advice.’ But I didn’t need advice. I needed step 1. (As an aside: I’ve worked through every stage of development before but never started a development company from scratch.) Like… who do I call? What do I do? He said: "Call Michael, explain what you’re doing, and he’ll help you take it from there." There was some additional encouragement thrown in, and that was it. I think the call lasted 25 minutes, but it was the first step I needed. I immediately did as he told me, and within a week, I was on my way to a new adventure. It’s been 5 months since. Within that time, I’ve learned a lot, had the chance to work with some exceptional people, and began discussions about a partnership with someone I've known for a little while who excels in areas where I'm not as strong. We’ve been officially working together for exactly 6 weeks. Throughout this process, I just kept thinking about the value of having that first step within reach, so I documented what we did for the past 6 weeks in a post that just went out to my mailing list. My hope is to share the information as a way to pay it forward. We still have a long way to go, but we are putting together a great team and I'm very excited to begin sharing our work. Check out the post or DM me for more info.

So intresting to read this because I am in a similar position. I have a vision, I have an area, I have intrested customers and I have suppliers. But sometimes it seems like an never ending moment 22. I am trying to put all the pieces together, approach people, but sadly, some people dont even bother to give any kind of feedback. But to give up is not in the agenda. There will be many projects and the message your wrote here is certainly a proof of that it will succeed. Wish you a great day, and if anyone that reads this want to connect, please do so.

Stephon Smith I'm sure you'd have thoughts to add in terms of developing a reusable model that can support the duration of a project.
