Last week, I had the chance to travel to #Cannes. I learned so much and met some great people. Here were my highlights and top takeaways: 💡 If you ever get invited to Julie Thompson’s VIP Dinner, you go. 💡 Brands are leaning into performance marketing and if done correctly, they’ll learn about the consumer and build their brand that way. Uber Advertising is in prime position… it’s hard to beat the ability to advertise at the point of hunger. 💡 75% of my meetings came back to two themes: Cultural relevancy and authenticity. 💡 AI found its way into almost every conversation. A lot of conflicting opinions but one thing remained true, it cannot replace our ability to feel, connect, and create (see authenticity point above). Best said, “with AI, mediocrity is now free” - Kaleeta McDade. 💡 One last universal sales truth, it is always a good idea to strike up a conversation with a stranger Truly a blessing to have experienced this and I look forward to sharing my thoughts from future Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity!

Yesterday was Uber's "Take Your Kids To Work Day" and I almost didn't participate. My intrusive thoughts had kicked in and stress / anxiousness had officially entered the chat. Ella, our 4 month old, still hasn't decided that nighttime is best spent sleeping yet. I'm tackling a few key objectives at work while trying to lead a sales team, and I have one of the biggest meetings of the year coming up next week. Include the 90 minute commute, and this was feeling like a great idea... for next year. When feeling anxious, I have been trying to zoom out and think about the bigger picture. What will I care about a year from now? While work responsibilities may be weighing heavily on me in the moment, yesterday will be with me forever. Was I was working at 1am last night? I sure was 😅. But spending time with my girls is worth it every time. So, if you ever find yourself on the fence about it, take your kids to work. Trust me, you won't get that time back. #RememberYourWhy #TakeYourKidsToWork

As a kid, I learned that team with no composure or discipline, has no leadership. If a coach or team captain panics when things get difficult, so will the team. I thought this to be the law of the land, until I got to the corporate world. The best leaders I’ve been around have an uncanny ability to remain steadfast under duress, but the worst... they fold like lawn chairs when things go left. Their demeanor changes. Body language and facial expressions exude stress. They lose the ability to be empathetic and begin to lead with fear. When things get hard, pay close attention to the people you look up to. I promise you will learn a lot. In my opinion the best leaders are able to do three things: stand tall in the midst of adversity, encourage those around them regardless of the situation, and constantly put people in positions to succeed. For me, I want to know who I am with during the hard times. It's essential to evaluate who you spend time with and why. During tough times, you have to know who you're with. What qualities do you all look for in a leader?
