Docusign recently introduced a new category called Intelligent Agreement Management. It seems like a good move that was well-executed. It’s clearly an effort to sell more effectively into their mid-market and enterprise segments. And I love that “Get Started with eSignature” remains one of their two primary CTAs. Their category narrative video is beautiful, well-articulated, and exactly what it should be when introducing a new category. Their nav bar is well-organized and easy to understand. Their brand words are subtle and supported by explainer text. And the pages to which it navigates look sharp. Including the contact sales, buy now, and try for free CTAs which I love are side by side like that. Website gets a 10 out of 10 from me. The broad competitive strategy of category creation seems very feasible to me, considering their previous category, position in that category, and overall reach and scale. And I think they have planted a very large and noticeable flag square in the middle of that new category - this wasn’t just a mincing of words like we see so frequently in B2B SaaS… this was a complete and thoughtful strategic overhaul. The only unknown is whether or not agreement management is a large enough problem to warrant all these investments. My guess is that they did their homework on this before they completely shifted their entire competitive narrative around it. And it does seem like something that would be important for a specific group of businesses. Probably big ones. Only time will tell, but in terms of execution and what seems to be thoughtfulness around their narrative and strategy, I think they’ve given themselves the absolute best chance of success. Well done.

Call me old fashioned but I like to send my contracts through docusign when they’re completed and ready to get sigs done. If documents need to be redlined let the lawyers do that in word before it’s ready for docsugn. I use docsugn weekly and wasn’t even aware of this. You would think you would market something new to your existing users. Ps. Do you really think this Is a new category? Redlining word or commenting on pdfs in docusign been a round a long time. I have no idea of what they are offering but from the name below it doesn’t sound like a new category. Genuinely curious if this is really a new category they are creating or just a new mouse trap for word redlines.

I too defined a new category in Q2: Intelligent personal hygiene management. In an effort to help B2B professionals understand that personal hygiene will help get them to president's club. New one that will likely drop in FY25Q1; Intelligent culinary management. Eating gives you the energy to keep grinding.
