Hello everyone! During week five of my internship, I evaluated our utilization of Ad Assets/Extensions across all enabled Google Search campaigns. Next, I created a new list of Callouts and Sitelinks to propose activating within our account. So far, I was able to publish approved Callouts (i.e a type of google search ad asset) in all of our Search campaigns, including our 4th of July campaign! Sometimes, Google automatically creates assets (aka ACAs) for ad groups, and I was able to review and conduct a quality assurance check on all of those in our account. We have historically seen that ACAs are a constant pain point, primarily because Google adds assets we either do not need or would not have added on our own. I am also starting to research keywords for my first attempt at creating new Search campaigns. (Two campaigns!) For now, I am working through planning the strategic outline/proposal for the campaigns. Next, I will work to complete audience selection, budget planning, and creative/copy ideation, along with a few other steps in the coming week(s). And, I even helped the team draft our May Performance Summary that will be presented at our next department-wide team meeting. This time around, I looked at performance data, both compared to May of last year and April of this year, noting changes and areas/opportunities where we can improve our messaging. I made an ad with Noah Marshall once. It was a classic blender job showing four slices of life to reflect the four poorly segmented kinds of people that the client insisted need to be reflected in the ad. Even for that, Noah made it rather beautiful. Then we put an atrocious piece of jarring music on, cut it way too short and it did nothing for the brand. The directors cut was fucking awesome though. Especially with a Rolling Stones soundtrack. The human moments in it were captured so beautifully. As they are in this. Noah made this for CHEP and Michael Hill (MH). I had nothing to do with it. It's beautiful, but also interesting. It’s part of a series they’ve done together, and they’re incredible long form with elegantly told human stories. The first was the Michael Hill love story, with a side of business. I really hope you saw it. I still couldn't forget the ads of my youth, but it did make me feel. What I find refreshing is seeing a brand creating real content that feels like it wants to entertain me first, and it's not designed to be a 90 and cut down, it's supported by MH as a full length. I’d love to know how it’s shifting the dial for the brand, and what else is in the MH mix, because it’s the sort of thing I really hope works for the people brave enough to go somewhere interesting. “Mom, come play with me!” Every summer on LinkedIn I see photos of stacks of books people aim to read during their vacations. Great way to share inspiration! At first I thought I would do the same this year (and yes I have my pile of books too and I am as usual sure I will only get through a fraction of it…) But… this year, realizing the summers when my kids still want to play with me are not that many anymore, I made another list. I made a Play List. This summer I want to: ✔️ take numerous evening swims jumping straight in - especially rainy windy evenings ✔️ play imaginary games in the forests, pretending the little caves and burrows are homes of elves and little people (see photo :)) ✔️sleep in a tent, make a fire and make ”stick bread” ✔️ play hours and hours with the Schleich horses ✔️ read Astrid Lindgren books before we go to bed ✔️ dance in the rain and jump in puddles of water ✔️ play foolish songs in the car during road trips and sing (scream) out loud ✔️ go crab fishing in the evenings ✔️ do all the adventurous stuff that comes to mind ✔️ ….and last but not least laugh a lot and say less no to things they come up with Play more. It’s far too boring and a waste of your life to be too serious all the time. (And actually, playing makes you more creative also in work!) #creativity #playmatters

Learning through licensing. At Zuma the Dog, for the last year we've been working closely with the students at Bridgwater & Taunton College Trust on a educational licensing agreement where the students have had the opportunity to work with us as a simulated client - agent working relationhip to give the students experience of how it would work within a "real" working environment. The degree students have been learning about team work, client relations, branding, animation and creating short animations using Zuma as the main character in their stories. Their projects have come to an end and we are very excited and proud of what the students have acheived. Staying power! ✊️ Today's quote is by the amazing and talented Derek Jeter. ⚾️ Not a flashy guy so what made him stand out? His work ethic! His stats back up his words! His three, top-ten category wins included... Sixth in hits with 3,465. Seventh in at-bats with 11,195. Ninth in runs with 1,923. Talent alone didn't get him there! A New York Times article estimated that Derek Jeter swung a bat 342,000 times in his professional career. 😮 Tiger Woods is another example. 🏌♂️ Neither of them just landed on top of the mountain. They climbed it! Two different talents with a few things in common. They both love(d) their craft. They never took their talent for granted. They invested hours and hours in honing their skills. Something that really sticks out to me. The love of their craft. I know I'm good at many things, but I don't love all of the things I'm good at. I "like" a lot of things, but liking isn't enough of a motivator. Loving what we do makes the investment worth it. Enjoying the journey. Celebrating the milestones. Every day, one more step toward excellence. Excellence is alive. Always growing and changing. Just out of reach. Like Jeter, we don't need to be the most flashy or top the charts on all fronts. Only you know your goodness! 🙌 My take on today's quote is this: Have no expectations. We get many do-overs in life, but the one thing we can't do is recover time. I'd rather use my time to follow my heart and be the best person I can be. Not to impress! Rather, to be a good example. We'll never meet with everyone's approval. And not everyone will reward us in kind. And that's okay. It doesn't change who we are! It's all about integrity. Authenticity. Being consistent in our behavior, even when we're alone. If you want to do something for people or show kindness, do it. But do it because you're feeling it, not because of social pressure. Spending time on something meaningful is much more fulfilling. Save yourself the anxiety. Use your energy for something good. Feeling good about who you are is what's important.
