Back in March, my colleague Nicole S. and I attended the 2024 TransTech Social Enterprises Summit for a mix of inspirational and practical talks on the fusion of design, technology, inclusivity, and diversity. Check out my article for Lab Zero Innovations Inc. for some takeaways from the summit. What can we learn from some of the most marginalized members of the LGBT+ community in tech, and how can we build towards a more inclusive and equitable future for everyone? #genderequalityintech #womenintech #inclusivetech #inclusivity #accessibility #diversity #TransTech #TransTechSummit #BeyondTheCode #SupportTransTech #TechnologyForAll

It's rarely enough to just hit the ground running with design and engineering. The best projects start with a good foundation, and Tracey has written a great article on how our organizational assessment can help to build that foundation for any type of project. Sound like something your org could use? Hit up Lab Zero to see if we can help!
Assessments are a valuable tool for understanding what your organization values, what your team needs to do their best work, and what’s standing in their way. It can be difficult to take an objective view when you’re deep in deadlines, short-staffed, or tackling risky new initiatives. That’s where Lab Zero Innovations Inc. can help. We bring the outside perspective needed to help identify and respond to your team’s hidden challenges. We don’t see assessments as a “test” that your organization passes or fails. We see it as an opportunity to learn what’s working and what matters to your team so that we can tailor solutions to your unique context. Teams engage more directly and take ownership of change more quickly when that change is informed by their needs and builds on their values. Our latest blog post illuminates our collaborative assessment process and how this focus on learning translates into value and lasting change for you and your team. How might your team benefit from this type of partnership? Where might a process like this meet resistance at your organization? We love feedback! Figma's variables feature has been out in beta for a little while now, but have you had the chance to use them in a real project? I have and wow, I was missing out on this for way too long! Check out this article to see how we built a prototype in just a few days that would've otherwise required significant engineering effort for an equivalent HTML prototype. Or worse—easily double the time for a 'spaghetti soup' prototype with connections everywhere! 😱 Instead, only 5 variables and a handful of logic declarations were all we needed to get valuable user feedback in under a week—no coding needed! Have you played around with variables in Figma yet? (or is there anything about this article you think could be improved? 😅) Reach out and let me know! #Figma #FigmaVariables #Prototyping #ProductDesign #UXDesign #WebDesign #Design #DesignLogic #DesignComponents #DesignVariables #DesignTools #DesignTooling #UserTesting #UserInterview

Hey—I just wrote a blog post detailing some practical principles the Lab Zero Innovations Inc. team has picked up from our recent projects. Check it out! 🎉 It's not always easy to onboard as a new designer or design team into a client's existing organization structure, but with tips on how to… • make planning visible • foster team collaboration • get the most out of meetings • keep your documentation in order • and even have a little fun as a designer‽ …you can start off with your best foot forward! Hopefully these 8 principles can guide your way to genuine understanding and team alignment. And if you're looking for design help? 👀 Do these principles sound like something you'd love for your team to integrate? Or have you maybe experienced the opposite of some of these points over the years? If you'd like to get Lab Zero's take on any challenges your team may be facing, please reach out! #DesignTeam #DesignLeadership #DesignOps #ProductDesign #ProductDevelopment #DesignPractices #BestPractices #BuildTrust #NewTeam #TeamAlignment #Collaboration #PDE #PDETeam
