Changing plans from Costco shopping to sharing stage with the First Lady? 🤔 Sure, why not. Yesterday I spoke on the stage of the Nordic Women in Tech Awards, along with Iceland’s First Lady Eliza Reid, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Áslaug Arna Sigurbjörnsdóttir, and a myriad of fantastic women who work towards more equal opportunities for women in tech in the Nordics. Plamena Cherneva asked me to address the mental health challenges and remind people to take care of themselves. It is so easy to forget about yourself and your own needs when there is a purposeful passion burning inside ❤️🔥 So I tried to provide a mindshift to the Gala attendees and stream viewers, for what we should do instead of filling our cups to pour into the others 🫗 You can watch the speech (only 5 minutes - I tried to be quick for people to get their dinner on time 😆) by following the link in the comments, starting at 1:35:30. Calling Original COLLECTIVE VISIBILITY Members - Join the Directory In 2023, there were over 1300 women sports leaders who were peer-nominated to the original COLLECTIVE VISIBILITY movement -- a list of amazing women in sports around the world who were ready to serve as moderators, speakers and panelists at global sports events and conferences that often lacked female voices and representation. 🤔 Instead of being competitive over rankings, this list (not a ranking) featured women across the global sports business ecosystem including academia and at all levels - not just the C-Suite or Commissioners offices -- supporting other women. Founder Vanessa ÅSELL TSURUGA 🇸🇪 has taken this to the next level with key partners -- Stockholm School of Economics and Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard University -- to turn this list into a working directory and platform with individual profiles for event organizers and CEOs to find female sports voices and leaders for their events, companies and Corporate Boards. Girls, let's put our records on! At the MISS GERMANY Top40 in Munich, I met an extraordinary group of women who deeply inspired me. This encounter not only provided me with valuable insights but also reinforced my beliefs: Community and connectedness are the keys to strength for me. I live by this philosophy in every aspect of my life: as a DJ, as a mother, as a friend to myself, and as a member of our community and our democratic society. At Miss Germany Studios, the importance of creativity became particularly clear to me. We don't need to focus on instructing others. Instead, we should concentrate on ourselves and our unique ability to develop creative solutions. Creativity is the key to more courage, innovation, and progress in our lives. Another significant lesson was the importance of individual and collective action. Every woman in our group has the capacity to make an impact independently, but we should always view our goals in the context of 'we.' In today's society, we often feel the need to define our identity or niche, but we must never forget the importance of collective action. Together, we are not only stronger but also more creative and ultimately happier. The creativity within the group has inspired me and ignited many ideas within me. In search of inspiration for company photos, we typed "2 Asian female founders" into Google. To our surprise, the results were limited. They mostly showed individual founders within larger collages rather than showcasing pairs like us. We also couldn't find anyone else who looked like us. This was a clear sign of the scarcity of representation we face daily. But we believe in the power of visibility – "We can be who we can see." This isn't just a saying; it's a call to action. That's why we decided to take matters into our own hands. 📸✨ We aim to provide new images that others can look up to. We are here not just to add to the numbers but to fundamentally change the game.
