Every time I see a ranking of the world best cities, I ask myself : Which came first, the gentrification or the Airbnb? City Centers of the most popular cities have become crowded false amusement parks. When homeowners turn their residences into Airbnb rentals, it may diminish the long-term rental availability in their neighborhoods. Property values may rise when deserted residences are filled by wealthy people who can afford the high prices.
