A common question in the job hunting industry revolves around how to make yourself "stand out" in a market where hundreds of people apply for the same jobs. It is my personal belief that portfolios are the way of the future for any and all roles and that properly documenting your contributions into a sharable format is the key to landing your dream positions. While we typically think of portfolios as "for artists and wall street", this couldn't be farther from the truth. Anything you can include to not just tell, but SHOW, your aptitude will always make you stand out amongst a sea of early applicants that either can't, or won't, be bothered. And a final note, it is OKAY to make examples from SCRATCH based on the specific role as long as you can do so within 24-48hrs of the posting and make sure to say that the resource was made as such and was never deployed. Showing the humbleness to say that you weren't perfect, the initiative to correct your portfolio and the ingenuity to do so well speak volumes against those who simply hit "Easy Apply". Here is an example below: "I might be late here but, based on the job description, I would imagine you should definitely include any custom spreadsheet templates that demonstrate your mastery of the aforementioned skills but, optionally: - Documentation demonstrating product leadership and organization (ie spreadsheets, reports and dashboards you may have created or oversaw the creation of) - Templates of design/research documents that led directly to solutions (perhaps case studies as to how) - Perhaps any custom templates from Monday or Smartsheet that show the use of product management software in either agile or waterfall environments or even lean or a combination of any In this way, you get to not only claim, but show, exactly how proficient you are in the areas Daniel has specifically cited as being critical for the role."
Hey Everyone, It's that time again. I have a role as A Production Coordinator. This role is for someone who has the following: - You have 2+ years of administrative experience in an environment where creative, business, and technical professionals succeed - You are an experienced MS Office and/or Google Docs user with advanced knowledge of creating and manipulating spreadsheets, complex formatting, and creating forms - You have a desire to take ownership, be responsible and find solutions - Displays effective time management, organizational and logistics skills - You can demonstrate excellent customer service Location: Redwood Shores, CA - Hybrid / Onsite HAPPY HUNTING!!! #weareea #eajobs #jobopportunity #newjobs #newjobposts https://lnkd.in/ghHHHxDj

Here we have yet another shining example of the not-so-shiny underbelly of the new remote-working wave: "Employed Freelancing" You appear employed by the company, but really you're a freelancer with zero company benefits and all of the tax liability. It's utterly galling. As a freelancer, a genuine freelancer, you choose the company, the projects, the time frame and the pay scale. It's up to the client to agree with your parameters and negotiate if need be. But when a company touts an ✨eXcItInG✨ opportunity and then seeks to pay you a set salary range, ask that you work within a certain time frame, and provides absolutely zero perks to working for the business, it no longer becomes an "opportunity" for the freelancer, it becomes an example of exploitation. So, let me say it again, more clearly for those employers out there: If 👏 There 👏 Is 👏 Set 👏 Pay 👏 And 👏 Set 👏 Hours 👏 It's 👏 Not 👏 Freelancing Pay your bloody workers and pay your bloody taxes! /rant

“Communities are becoming our most trusted spaces on the internet. When they're curated with care, intention and thoughtful rail guards, they become *the* place somebody comes to when they need something.” Milly Tamati has created one of my favorite digital communities with GW. What makes these spaces powerful is the intimacy; even when you most likely only know a handful of people, you inately trust their referrals. Thank you for highlighting the work we do at CollabWORK. We believe the future of identifying the best talent is happening in these pockets of the internet that are measured by trust, not followers. It’s also the pathway to increase diversity and introduce new roles in the workplace (like Generalists).
A (somewhat surprising) byproduct of Generalist World that I will not stop shouting out because it's freakin' AMAZING is: Generalists hiring generalists. I say surprising, but I should have seen it coming. Whenever you put underrepresented folks in positions of leadership, and help them step into their power, they open the door for others to climb up with them. Currently hiring in the GW community are: 1. Mohit Khullar is hiring a Chief Generalist (Fully Remote) 2. Elysha Png is hiring Executive Research Assistant (Fully Remote) 3. Holly Leonard is hiring a Grant Writer Consultant & Workforce Solutions Consultant 4. Nikki Cochrane is hiring freelance facilitators for an innovation foundation (UK-wide) 5. Dayana Yermolayeva is hiring a Chief of Staff (London / Remote) Through the community, we've already helped folks find amazing roles at companies like Zapier and The Future Kind Collective. Summer from CollabWORK is 100% onto something special. Communities are becoming our most trusted spaces on the internet. When they're curated with care, intention and thoughtful rail guards, they become *the* place somebody comes to when they need something. Maybe that's support. Maybe it's technical assistance with a piece of software. Maybe it's to find genuine recommendations. Or maybe, as I'm seeing every week now- it's to hire their next generalist. #hireageneralist #generalist #multipotentialite

The best-run flexible teams are managing to outcomes. Not time spent. How you create an outcome-driven team starts with who you hire. When hiring flexible team members (whether they’re remote, freelance, or contract-based), shift your hiring criteria: 1. From title to impact - A Creative Director should be able to tell you how their past work has performed. 2. From time spent to impact - Someone who’s been in a long-term role should be able to share progressive, tangible wins. Short-tenured big wins are equally meaningful for the “here for a good time, not a long time” talent pool. 3. From “culture fit” to impact - No matter how they look, gauge candidates based on past work they’ve been directly responsible for. Don’t forget your own responsibility to create an impact-driven culture vs. an aesthetic one. Sense a pattern here? Past impact is a strong indicator of future outcomes!
