🎉 IT'S NATIONAL SMALL BUSINESS WEEK!!! 🎉 I absolutely LOVED presenting to a group of about 40 small business owners & entrepreneurs this week about how to innovate in business with-- you guessed it-- artificial intelligence! Big shout out to Shawn M. Ferguson of the Florida SBDC Network at Hillsborough County Economic Development for the invitation to speak at this awesome event. One of the most rewarding parts of the work I do is when people come to me after a session, excited they were able to understand a topic they felt was beyond their reach. They now feel better positioned to make informed decisions about their next steps because they have a foundational understanding of AI. They feel empowered and where there may have been fear or apprehension, there is now clarity and confidence. That's always a win for me! 🙌🏾 Unfortunately, tech training can often leave people feeling 😕 incompetent 😕 unintelligent and 😕 outright confused and frustrated when it's not taught in a way that's graspable, relatable, and laughable (especially the last one! 😅). I've sat in many a "beginner" session for technology and felt like they were speaking a foreign language. It didn't work for me. And that's one of the reasons I started my company. #BlackUnicornEducation 😏 I was honored to be in the room to facilitate learning about AI for these business owners. They now have another tool that can help augment the work they do that makes our communities and this nation great! Core truths don't change with the advent of new technology. How do you know it's a core truth? Challenge it with the new thing. If it changes or falls apart, it was never a core truth in the first place. Seems so elementary, and yet here we are losing our minds over AI. A core truth about marketing. New tools, tech and methods are appearing nearly daily at this point. Neat! They are levers to test if you're ready for them. That said, I don't care what the lever is that you're pulling, it's a losing proposition if you haven't nailed the Outcome (impact, benefit, value) and what's Compelling (relevancy, urgency and validity) about your offering to the wall - fully articulated in a way that on its own, stand alone (without you), drives your target audience to action. If you the sales person or you the marketing person need the founder or CEO of the company to participate in the campaign in order for it to be successful, then its likely that at this stage they are what's compelling about your offering, more so than the offering itself or, more concerning, they are seen as the offering.
