Content Insider #863 - Friendly Foe The vision of AI being a helpful assistant to film/show creatives and then slowly creeping into more and more of his/her job. Ultimately, humanity is removed from creative creation, development, and production is awesomely eerie and lurking it lots of folks minds but we don't think – hope – it's real. There's a big difference between a movie/show that is technically correct and one that resonates real feeling, excitement, empathy. Even an animal can tell the difference so we think you'll be able to use it lightly and wisely. Content Insider #865 - Equals Plus It's more or less accepted that women can work side by side as equals. Okay maybe equals is too strong a word but they're d*** good at their respective jobs. But to somehow think or even imagine that it will take like forever to be properly compensated is difficult to wrap your head around. The pay difference is glaringly apparent when it comes to sports futball (soccer) and basketball pay differences have been glaringly apparent this year and if there is a difference at that level it has to be more difficult for you and you. But then for some people in power equality for all is just a cool phrase. Hope 50 percent of the global population doesn't decide to sideline themselves...the world will grind to a halt! Content Insider #864 - New Creators Some film producers struggle to tell their complete video story in under three hours. Fortunately, most can do it beautifully/effectively in one–two hours. It's really weird that the most widely and consistently viewed video content is "a little" shorter. Yeah like 30 seconds to 10 minutes...max. Don't get us wrong, our idea of binging is not watching six 10 minute videos in an hour. Maybe the established content creators could learn something from the up and coming generation. Content Insider #862 - Mixed Generations People are more or less back in the office and some of the faces only look vaguely familiar...they're older. True but there are also new faces/talent in the group. It's seems to be a weird mix – some Gen X, lots of Millennial, growing number of Gen Z and just a smattering of Gen Alpha – that often feels like mixing oil and water but somehow it works. Each guy/gal can learn something from the other in the office, on the crew. Sometimes getting things to run smoothly takes time. But no one said it would be easy...probably why they call it work. Content Insider #861 - Unseen People love to say they ditched their cable bundle because they were constantly raising their subscription fees and that they didn't watch 90 percent of the stuff the cable service offered. Yeah that was sorta true but they added all those "extra" channels because some folks were interested in the narrow interest stuff. In addition you can also blame the broadcasters because slowly but surely they wanted a bigger cut of the paid–in pie. Now that you're paying for each one individually – fee and/or ads – you're getting irritated at the prices the services are charging you. Congratulations new versions of the old bundle are now available but you still won't be happy because they don't offer everything you want and they expect to be reasonably paid. Get over it. Good/great content costs money and someone has to pay for it. Surprise...it's you! Content Insider #860 - Sports Unification We love to see all of the video services – SVOD, AVOD, TVOD, FAST, time/day – getting into bidding wars over who is going to lock up exclusivity to show a specific sport. Especially since we're only casually interested in watching these events. Surprisingly, we were more than mildly interested in watching the female version of the Final Four basketball series. We'll probably watch some of the NBA basketball finals. And we half watched the Super Bowl (mostly for the ads). But other than that, we'd rather watch several good/great films back–to–back. But then quality and value is in the eye of the beholder so...
