Senior Sales Leader at Teradata | Figuring out the value of AI & GenAI | Passionate Coach and Mentor

Listen to Ahmed Hafez, VP Technology Strategy with Deutsche Telekom before joining the expert panel to discuss "Enabling the Autonomous Network with AI". In this introductory interview at "DSP Leaders - World Forum" celebrated June 5th to 6th in Windsor, Ahmed is answering the questions posed by host Ray Le Maistre, Editorial Director with TelecomTV about what has changed since last year for telcos in regards to AI and what kind of pressure does the pace of development and the requirements of AI put on the telcos. Ahmed explains the main challenges focusing on the four layers: Data, Infrastructure, Models and Tools/Applications. Minutes: [07:50 to 13:00] Main pain points he highlights are: Data layer: Lack of well designed and adaptable data models. Despite many standards, still a siloed approach to data definition, data and file formats. This is not scalable and easily replicable. Infrastructure layer: Telco's reality today is still hybrid and not public cloud only. Co-existence and flexible integrations between OnPrem and public cloud are needed. The question then is where does the data live, how it is moved around and at what cost and speed? The need for a truly open and connected platform approach is palpable. Foundational AI models layer: You have the freedom of open source models on one side and then the power of the proprietary ones that are not portable on the other side. You can usually only use theses where they "live", on the public cloud and you can't use them OnPrem. This creates problems if you want to train such a model with confidential information. Tools/Application layer: Most suppliers come with full stack siloed approaches versus an open and integrated platform approach to enable vertical (Between the four layers) and horizontal (At each layer between suppliers e.g. multi cloud at the infrastructure layer) integration and interoperability. We at Teradata offer with Vantage such a hybrid, open, connected, scalable and high performance platform to enable an effective and efficient foundation to deploy an AI enabled autonomous network. 5 out of the 6 largest telcos globally trust in Teradata to manage their Enterprise Data Warehouses (EDWH) on premises, in the public cloud and in hybrid infrastructures. Teradata - The trusted AI Company.
