Many of the offers in the 3rd Tranche of the 33rd Licensing Round overlap wind farms and/or carbon storage licences, particularly in the SNS and EIS. A new clause, "Relationship with Windfarms", was recently introduced where oil and gas licensees must enter into a co-location agreement with the #offshorewind lease holder before undertaking any activity. While this clause is a positive initial step, Bahzad Ayoub, suggests further legislation will be required to ensure overlapping projects do not delay each other. Off we go again for Gulf of Mexico #2 with an auction likely to be somewhere around mid-summer. Given the low interest in the first lease round a year ago (but also, a low cost for acquiring a lease) it will be interesting to see how the market thinks the financial outlook has changed. I've had many friends in the market say that if they knew they could have grabbed a lease at only $5M, they might have participated. #offshorewind #offshorewindenergy

House members are calling for the immediate continuation of offshore oil and gas leasing. They demand that the Department of the Interior (DOI) issues its legally mandated plan for offshore fossil fuel lease sales, which has been delayed for over a year. They stress that this is crucial because the Inflation Reduction Act ties new wind leases to oil and gas leases.
