Hey everyone! I made another reverse engineering post today, this time about trying to reverse engineer a DDJ-400 Pioneer controller! Keyword "trying"; I haven't gotten to utilizing this yet but at least I know what works and why.

Here's a project I've been working on for at least a few weeks or so. Here I'm taking a break from reverse engineering and building a solution for aggregating radio signals primarily for backend Linux systems. The code I wrote is here: https://lnkd.in/gHU-RxBN .

I had the opportunity to reflect on my career a little bit thus far in this piece and offer some advice to some prospective software engineers. Thank you Jessica Landes for organizing all of this and thank you TJ Devane for facilitating this connection! This was a lot of fun to write!
“Knowing how to become a good software developer depends not just on coding a solution efficiently, but also on how well you can design a holistic system where all of the parts work neatly together," shares software engineer Andrew Gorbaty. https://lnkd.in/eqDMtwGV Hey everyone! I know it's late but I made another post on my substack detailing how I reverse engineered a critically panned Disney Game Boy game from the 90s. Check it out!

I was recently interviewed by Anna Raskind and noticing she has a substack I was inspired to start my own! I recently realized I sink some of my personal time into some weird/interesting types of projects so I figured I would post about those endeavors here. Recently I was given the opportunity to reverse an obscure Konami rhythm video game and found some interesting nuggets. Check it out and let me know what you think!

I never post on here, let alone post anything personal about myself. But since it's been two years since I completed radiation for my tongue cancer (almost to the day) I wanted to highlight this interview I had with my former colleague, Anna Raskind . I walk through my journey with tongue cancer while having to work at the same time. She did an incredible job of profiling my experience. Please send her some support and follow her blog. She absolutely deserves it!
Imagine debating whether to tell your company on your first day that you have cancer. That’s what happened to my former colleague, Andrew Gorbaty. At only 28 years old, he was diagnosed with tongue cancer. I first got to know him as a former colleague. And yet, despite losing 70% of his tongue, going through chemo, and having to relearn how to speak, all while still showing up to work — he was consistently one of the kindest people I’d ever met. How do you stay kind, when you’re dealing with what many people would consider their worst nightmare? How do you go to work while preparing for radiation, not knowing if you’ll come back? Today, I’m so proud to share Andrew’s story in my newsletter, Celebrating Setbacks. Every other week, I share interviews and reflections with inspiring people facing all sorts of challenges — from layoffs, to health issues, to career pivots. Link to the interview: https://lnkd.in/eP4wfu7Z. And if you’d like to support this project of helping us feel less alone in dealing with setbacks — please subscribe!
