Mike Brown sums up so much of what we are feeling. I grew up in New England. Mass shootings are not supposed to happen in rural New England… The only way this will truly get fixed is a massive cultural shift. Gun control will take centuries to actually work as the guns stay physically intact for centuries. We need people to realize that placing an innocent human being in the sights of a weapon that is not being an immediate threat to others lives and pulling the trigger IS NOT FUCKING OK! I apologize for the vulgarity, but wake the eff up, if you don’t have the self control to not pull the trigger please go sell your guns. If you react emotionally to things and find yourself taking actions that you don’t remember consciously thinking about taking said action, sell your tools that do not allow for second chances… Every time you pull a trigger at the range you should think about the consequences of doing that with someone in your sights so it never becomes “just ok” in your head to place someone in your sights and squeeze the trigger. I carry a weapon daily, it is a break glass in case of an emergency tool. The only time it will come out is if someone is threatening another persons life with a means to cause great bodily harm and action must be immediately taken. If you’re a gun owner and don’t think like this, you might want to put some thought into it before you allow your subconscious complacency to allow you to ever assume it’s “ok” to shoot someone. You should never be “ok” with shooting someone, that’s sociopathic behavior, sometimes we do need to employ a firearm for the defense of others, which is our justification but in the quiet of your own mind it shouldn’t be something that is just “ok”. The taking of another persons life is one of the most complex experiences one can have, and it should never just be “ok”…
