Finance Student at Texas A&M University | Trading, Risk, & Investments Program (TRIP) Group 15

Last week, I concluded my 5-month internship at Aramco Trading Americas (ATA) in Marine Distillate Operations. During this period, I managed the loading and discharging of a number of diesel/jet fuel vessels both domestically and internationally. This role involved close collaboration with brokers, inspectors, agents, and counterparties to ensure deals were executed effectively and within contractual requirements. A significant part of my role was ensuring the accurate and timely reflection of data in our ETRM system, which was crucial for precise reporting of exposure and P&L, as well as supporting finance activities like invoice settlement. Working closely with the trading team, I aimed to maximize value and continuously optimize our processes. Moreover, I coordinated with departments such as Compliance, Demurrage, Accounting, and Freight to improve the flow of information across desks. In addition to my primary role, I assisted with various projects, such as RINS trade reconciliation and updating/testing the product/location setup system, allowing me to gain a wider range of experiences. Some of the highlights of my internship included going on two physical tours. At SGS, I got a closer look into the life of an inspector and learned how to sample tanks. On the vessel/terminal tour, I observed the various operations involved in the successful discharge of an oil tanker. I am incredibly grateful to Aramco Trading Americas for this amazing experience. The knowledge and skills I gained here will be foundational to my future career in the energy industry.
