“I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo. "So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” ― The Fellowship of the Ring, J.R.R. Tolkien

Matt Levine takes on bankruptcy clawbacks in his column today. The inconvenient rebound in #crypto prices, making things hard for the #bankruptcy court, sounds so much like what went on in the #housingmarket in like 2018-2019... some #foreclosures had lingered so long that the value of the house rebounded by the time the houses were auctioned and some courts went trying to find the homeowners to return money to them! And none of the long-gone homeowners even believed it and wouldn't return the phone calls, ignored the mailings, etc. #goodtimes #cryptowinter #housing

"It’s a feel-good story. The dogs are adorable and the men are dedicated. To see them nurture one another helps absolve our collective shame about the realities of incarceration in America." This is honestly the best thing I've read in a long, long time, and I include the 50 or so features I just judged for the Loeb awards. ❤️ And not just because it has 🐶

Can someone please help me with this: Why hasn't anyone talked about US Senator Mark Kelly for president? He served his country as a U.S. Navy combat pilot, a NASA astronaut, and U.S. Senator for Arizona. Despite all of all of his public service, he's a dedicated husband and father. And he seems to be refreshingly honest, humble, and a political centrist. As a Navy pilot, he made multiple deployments on the aircraft carrier USS Midway and flew 39 combat missions in Operation Desert Storm. Senator Kelly is the recipient of the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, two Distinguished Flying Crosses, and multiple Air Medals. As senator, he has worked with both parties to create good-paying jobs, cut taxes for middle-class families, and bring down the cost of living. He serves on the Armed Services, Environment and Public Works, Intelligence, Aging, and Joint Economic Committees. He is Chair of the Senate Armed Services Airland Subcommittee, where he plays a leading role in getting our airmen and soldiers the tools they need. I think most people don't know about him because he keeps his head down and actually does his job representing normal people [rather than special interests] in Congress and does not grandstand for attention. Why can't America be lead by someone like this for a change?

“When it comes time for the fascists to frog-march journalists out of the newsroom at gunpoint, the journalists will compete for the exclusive rights to cover it.” Too strong? I don't think so. #journalism #Washington #InsidetheBeltway
