💡 The Unexpected Stakeholder - Learning from the G.O.A.Ts 🐐
Our PMO in Montserrat can be a hub for stakeholder engagement. The island is a unique environment in which essentially all residents, visitors and the diaspora community, are stakeholders with vested interest in GoM's broad range of infrastructure and human development projects. Everyone has a stake, and an important perspective on the island's destiny.
Today, we were visited by two unexpected stakeholders, a couple of curious goats from the adjacent property. It provided a useful metaphor for the team. Like any new stakeholder, we acknowledged and identified their presence, and recorded their interest. They clearly wanted increased access and to know more about what we had to offer. We tried to find the best method of communication, and even though we didn't understand everything, it was important that they felt he(a)rd. We assessed their position on our matrix as high interest / low impact and scanned the horizon for any additional similar stakeholders. Once they were satisfied by our response and open-door attitude, the pair felt happy to move on, until the next check-in point.
When it comes to stakeholders, never kid around.
If you are a Montserrat stakeholder, remember you can visit the PMO anytime to find out more about our projects and programmes, or we can certainly shepherd you in the right direction.
