Yesterday was Milwaukee Brewers Girl Scout Day! There were hundreds of Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast Girl Scouts in attendance and parading on the field pre-game. A handful of Gold Award Girl Scouts from across the state had the opportunity to be recognized prior to the National Anthem and local Girl Scouts were the color guard! One lucky Gold Awardee, Abigail, and one lucky CEO got to throw out first pitches (both making it to the plate)! Then when getting escorted out we ran into a special guest. 😎 Thank you to the Milwaukee Brewers for being such a great partner and for celebrating Girl Scouts! Katina Shaw Lisa Smith. 🌼Learning and growing together makes for strong friendships and warm memories, especially when you have your Girl Scout troop at your side. Greta, a Girl Scout Junior and GSWISE Media Girl, spoke to a few of her troop members about what they remember about being a Daisy Girl Scout. Those first few years included fun activities like earning the colorful Daisy petals, caroling for seniors, and even a tea party in a library. Beyond proud to share that our very own GSWISE board member Lily has been awarded a $5000 college scholarship in recognition of her Gold Award project. This scholarship is so well-deserved. Lily is a great example of how Girl Scouts has built girls of courage, confidence and character for 112 years! Congratulations Lily!! I am so excited to see all of your success on your next chapter!!

Meet Lily! Lily is a proud GSUSA Gold Award Scholarship recipient. Lily’s #gsGoldAward created a free summer camp experience for children with special needs in the Muskego School District. Lily created two day camp kits and handcrafted several large wheelchair accessible tents fashioned from pop-up canopies and tarps. She purchased and donated outdoor blankets and designed tent wall murals for the campers to customize each year with their own handprints. https://bit.ly/4czVwZu

Just when I thought my week couldn’t get better…. Already a fan of her writing, the first time I heard Robin DiAngelo, Ph.D. speak, I knew we needed to bring her back to Milwaukee.
