New Program Empowers Leadership Growth at DLA Aviation!
DLA Aviation at Oklahoma City is excited to introduce the Human Leadership Development and Aviation Process Excellence program, affectionately known as APEx.
Aimed at enhancing outstanding leadership across the command, this elective program invites supervisors to participate in targeted seminars covering a range of essential topics.
From empathy in leadership to career planning, motivating employees, production science, and continuous process improvement (CPI), this comprehensive program equips leaders with the tools they need to excel in their roles.
Human Leadership Development is the latest addition to APEx, a system that has been thoughtfully developed over the past six years, combining various leadership focuses into a cohesive and effective framework.
The program was born out of a genuine need to enhance functionality across the command.
Jerad Friend, a management analyst within DLA Aviation at Oklahoma City Command Support Staff, emphasized the importance of this initiative in tackling roadblocks related to communication with U.S. Air Force customers and process improvement challenges.
Inspired by the success of the Art of the Possible program at Tinker Air Force Base, the team saw an opportunity to drive meaningful change in their own operations.
Under the guidance of Chris Basden, Retail Order Management Branch Chief within DLA Aviation’s Business Process Support Directorate, the APEx course was meticulously developed.
The program's impact quickly became evident, with leaders across the organization experiencing eye-opening moments and improvements that left a significant mark.
Having garnered attention from headquarters, the program has expanded, with over 100 senior-level leaders being trained in APEx, and invitations to share the course with leaders at other installations.
The flexibility of the program allows for enhancements and adjustments, making it applicable to both new hires and experienced supervisors.
DLA Aviation at Oklahoma City is committed to fostering a culture of problem-solving and continual improvement, ensuring that every employee is equipped to contribute to the organization's success.
The APEx program stands as a testament to the power of collaboration and dedication in driving positive change within an organization.
