George Washington Carver is one of my personal heroes. In addition to the accomplishments in this story, he also created paint from natural ingredients like soil and plants... at a museum dedicated to him in Tuskegee, Alabama, we saw a stunningly beautiful still life he painted from his own hand-concocted paints. Loved learning about other Black leaders and trailblazers in conservation and environmental justice to kick off Black History Month.
From Hattie Carthan, the woman who founded Tree Corps at age 71, to George Washington Carver, a world-renowned American botanist, these trailblazers all brought immense knowledge to their respective fields and continue to inspire us this #BlackHistoryMonth.
