During this experience, I have learnt how to: - Identify a public corporation to be acquired and build out a company profile page - Project a company’s financials by building a simple financial model - Build a trading comparable model to depict where the target company’s valuation is positioned relative to its peers - Analyze the valuation information to give a summary of the main ideas I now feel more confident in my ability to build a financial model and trading comparable model, giving a summary of main ideas in the model. Yikes, I better be prepared If you are a summer intern, here’s some early tips: Dress for the job you want → Business formal to start Do all the required pre-work and take it seriously → I promise it will help in training Figure out where you’re going to live for the summer → 1000s of interns descend on NYC, SF, CHI, HOU each summer, so it may be competitive Go into your internship with a fully open mind → Be willing to try new teams, industries & type of work You did the hard work to earn the internship Now do the hard work to prepare for it!

Summer Internship! The exciting interlude in a two-year MBA programme where students encounter “real” situations at “real” workplaces. In the Summer of 1992, I was one such Intern. Today, when ATMs are ubiquitous and declining, it is impossible to imagine that it was then a novel preserve of a few foreign-owned banks catering to the top economic classes! And they all were branded: HSBC (then Hongkong Bank) called it “Any Time Money” while ANZ Grindlays called it a “Night & Day Bank” - see it imprinted in the old receipt below! Yes, having an account with a bank (and a select few branches) with an ATM was quite snooty. The thrill? The sheer novelty - and I guess to have crisp currency notes in hand (the early machines only handled new notes). And you guessed it, my internship was linked to one of the freshly installed ATMs - which made the branch a “Night & Day Bank” - with a complete marketing strategy around it to gain high-end customers! The (faded) receipt below is dated 25/04/1992…. the time the 1992 mega financial scam broke, popularly known in history as “The Harshad Mehta Scam”,…but how that impacted the humble intern is another story…. #Banking #Marketing #Internships
